COSÌ FAN TUTTE
Dramma giocoso in two acts by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Salzburg Festival 2020, Großes Festspielhaus - in Italian). A co-production of ORF, ZDF/ARTE and UNITEL.The Corona virus could not prevent it: Christof Loy showed
with Joana Mallwitz conducting the Vienna Philharmonic, his production of Mozart's Così fan tutte in the Großes Festspielhaus, which was broadcast live to Kapitelplatz with a time delay. In Così fan tutte, dramaturge Andri Hardmeier once explained, "an experiment decides on the alleged infidelity of the women. An ambiguous game begins that exposes ever deeper layers of emotion. The undisguised view into the turmoil of human relationships opens up abysses that seem to go beyond the scope of a dramma giocoso. In some respects Mozart's most radical stage work, it is not so much a' school of lovers' (the play's subtitle) as a continuous dissection of hearts.in the tension between love and passion, security and self-sacrifice, fidelity and betrayal, the couples lose themselves in an emotional chaos. In the process, Mozart's music traces the inner contradictions of his characters without ever betraying them, and suddenly makes us ourselves doubt the certainty with which we think we know what is play and what is serious, what is dream and what is reality."
