IDOMENEO
Dramma per musica in three acts by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Salzburg Festival 2019, Felsenreitschule - in Italian). A co-production of SERVUS TV and UNITEL.Back in 2017, Teodor Currentzis and Peter Sellars made a stunning statement at the Salzburg Festival with Mozart's late opera La clemenza di Tito, which they interpreted as a poignant vision of how to find a path to democracy through the power of justice and reconciliation. Their Idomeneo, for all the beauty of the music, will once again be about the anger and despair of refugees, about violence, traumatization, unresolved conflicts, and this time also the destruction of the environment.
In Idomeneo, Mozart questions the foundations of patriarchy and shows that to end any war, an honest process of reconciliation is necessary and
that feelings such as hatred and anger must not be denied, just as psychological injuries must be confronted so that they can heal at some point.
