Chekka, Lebanon

Cementing relationships – by upgrading within just 12 days

Cement producer Holcim only had 12 days to modernize the control system at its plant in Chekka – during a planned kiln maintenance shutdown period.
The task was to replace the control system with a new system using the latest version of CEMAT based on SIMATIC PCS 7 Version 7.
Siemens Solutions Partner Esprocessing upgraded the system in two phases providing a fast migration and smooth production restart.

Lengfurt, Germany

Up-to-date cement mills – thanks to Integrated Drive Systems

A mill from HeidelbergCement, one of the largest manufacturers of construction materials worldwide, was equipped with new drive technology from Siemens.
The conversion to flexible, high-performance SIMOTICS FD motors with cooling fins and corresponding SINAMICS G150 frequency converters could be accomplished effortlessly.
Thanks to a seamless Integrated Drive Systems (IDS) solution energy savings and a precise adjustment to the underlying conditions are possible.

Sinoma/CBMI

Benin, West Africa

Foundations for success – close collaboration

The Chinese company Sinoma/CBMI was assigned to build a turnkey cement mill with a capacity of 3,600 tons of clinker per day – a significant project in Benin.
Siemens supplied all the hardware and software engineering, from the integration of PCS 7 with CEMAT to data archiving and monitoring services.
The foundations for future collaboration were cemented.

St Marys Cement

Charlevoix, Michigan

Expansion kicks up cement production by 40 percent

St Marys Cement, a Canadian company owned by Brazilian building materials supplier Votorantim Cimentos, sought to extend and modernize its operations.
In addition to creating a comprehensive engineering scheme, Siemens supplied more than $12 million of cutting-edge electrical equipment.
Among the results are an increased production capacity by 40%, expanded and modernized plant systems, and a higher energy efficiency.

Hanson Cement

Fans of saving energy – and more than EUR 200,000 per year

In the Purfleet factory of Hanson Cement, producing a million tons a year of Regen, blower units required modernization to achieve energy savings.
Thanks to Siemens’ integrated drive systems the company is saving over EUR 200,000 per year from a 36% decrease in energy consumption.
Hanson Cement also benefits from a reduction of CO₂ emissions by 1,487 tons.

Enabling a planned capacity of 12,000 tons of clinker per day

The new line at the Cong Thanh cement plant was built to meet the increasing demand for cement consumption due to the national modernization and industrialization.
Siemens supplied the complete range of products for equipping cement works, incl. electrical equipment and automation systems for the new line and the supervision of installation and commissioning.
The operator benefits from maximum productivity, higher energy-efficiency, and reduced operational and maintenance costs.
