Giving Back to Communities
At Siemens, we are committed to giving back to local communities where we work and live. We create community impact by making our technology and knowledge accessible to the society and by supporting needy communities with our donations and volunteering efforts. In 2020, Siemens Canada made a significant impact in enhancing lives through its charitable activities.
Our commitment stands on three pillars
In partnership with Corporations for Community Connections (CFCC), Siemens Canada donates its decommissioned laptops to communities and schools.
Since 2010, CFCC has refurbished more than 4,600 Siemens computers and distributed them to more than 50 charitable organizations serving over 45,000 people. More then 750 Siemens employees were engaged in the process of preparation of laptops for donation.
Computers refurbished by CFCC volunteers at the Oakville head office.
Cystic Fibrosis Canada: 2 million and counting
Siemens Canada employees have been supporting people affected by cystic fibrosis (CF) for more than 20 years. Today, CF patients’ median age of survival is 53 years of age, 20 years longer than in late nineties.
To date, Siemens Canada donated $2 million in support of Cystic Fibrosis Canada.
Tree Planting
Siemens Canada employees are committed to making a positive environmental impact through tree planting program. Every year hundreds of volunteers take time off work to plant trees in Siemens’ neighbourhoods across the country.
In 2019, Tree Canada, a Canadian national charity promoting tree planting initiatives, recognized Siemens Canada with the prestigious Eterne Award for outstanding environmental stewardship.
Since 2012, 2,100 Canadian employees planted 14,599 trees! These trees would take the area of 235 football fields and will sequester 43,800 tons of CO2 in the next 50 years, which is equivalent to diverting emissions from a car driving 4,000 times around the globe.
Hope for Holidays
Every holiday season, Siemens Canada employees express their generosity by contributing to the Hope for Holidays campaign that supports families in need during the holiday season.
Since its inception in 2009, the campaign has raised more almost $500,000 in cash and in-kind contributions for The Salvation Army chapters across the country.
