Siemens industrial products contribute to the Military World Games opening ceremony.

A two-hour plus visual feast

The 7th CISM Military World Games opened at Wuhan Sports Center in China on October 18, 2019. The grand opening ceremony lasted for more than two hours.

The largest fully 3D stage

The world’s largest fully 3D stage was featured at the ceremony, which marked breakthroughs in stage technology and a new level of choreographic artistry. The lifelike visual effects took audiences on an immersive journey from the ancient to modern China, showcasing the distinctive charm of Chinese civilization.

Where technology meets arts

Behind this world renowned stage, advanced control technologies from Siemens played a critical role!

The close cooperation between Beijing Showworks Art and Technology (Showworks) and Siemens made the multiple scene changes and error-free performances possible on the opening night. Thanks to Showworks’ extensive event experience and Siemens’ proven technologies, audiences were treated to an impressive visual feast!

The stage was equipped with Siemens’ Simatic S7-1500 controllers, Sinamics G120 inverters, Scalance X Industrial Ethernet switches, and a series of control components to intelligently control choreographic facilities during the complex movement sequences. Siemens products are well-known for their high quality, efficiency and reliability. Integrating the large-scale projection technology, they contributed to strong visual effects and engaging audience experiences.

The revolving torch tower

The lighting of the official torch tower put a spectacular finishing touch on the opening ceremony. Siemens Simatic S7-1500 controllers and Sinamics G120 inverters enabled the top of torch tower to revolve, and Simatic S7-400 redundant controllers ensured a zero-defect lighting process.

The Games were held on October 18-27 in Wuhan, capital city of central China’s Hubei Province, with nearly 10,000 athletes participating in a record-breaking 329 events across 27 sports.
