Industrial Networks Education

Your network. Your expertise. Your certification.
Planning and implementing industrial networks and connecting them to a corporate network demands a lot of ability and accessible specialist knowledge. The same applies when a communication network needs to be secured, diagnosed or optimized. That’s why we’ve developed a training program and subsequent certification that is aligned with international Industrial Ethernet standards. Each certificate documents tested network skills as part of the overall Siemens industrial networks training program.
Training and certification for Industrial Networks
In our Industrial Networks Education courses you’ll learn to design and implement wired and wireless data networks and connect them to a corporate network. You will also receive instruction on how to secure, diagnose and optimize communication networks. Certification can also be offered to supplement almost all training courses. For beginners, our certification program offers initial trainings in Industrial Networks (Siemens ITIN) where they are provided with network technology basics. The offering Siemens Certified Professional for Industrial Networks (Siemens CPIN) prepares them for mastering three specific topics of tasks regarding practical industrial networks. The Siemens Certified Expert for Industrial Networks (Siemens CEIN) offering rounds out their knowledge and, additionally, provides them with comprehensive expertise in industrial networks. With these trainings and certification programs, Siemens offers unique qualification in a special field that combines in-depth knowledge with broad, multidisciplinary expertise.
Siemens Certified Expert for Industrial Networks
The training courses of this qualification level provide a unique combination of in-depth as well as broad-based knowledge regarding network diagnosing and optimization. Building on the content of the professional certificate for the planning, implementation and operation of industrial networks, you will be able to deepen your knowledge and skills in a special field through supplementary multidisciplinary trainings. There are two certification pathways to choose from for the training to become a Siemens Certified Expert for Industrial Networks (Siemens CEIN). “Switching and Routing” covers the knowledge required for the planning and implementation as well as the operation of wired industrial networks. “Wireless Communication,” on the other hand, focuses on the maximum flexibility of wireless networks in meeting industrial requirements. Every certification pathway is supplemented by additional training courses – either from another field altogether, or through multidisciplinary training courses. Your certification as a Siemens Certified Expert for Industrial Networks combines several individual certificates. The certification is valid for three years.
Diagnostics and Optimization of Industrial Networks with SCALANCE
This training course provides comprehensive information on diagnostics and optimization of industrial networks. With the help of practical exercises, you’ll be able to familiarize yourself with available tools and also learn which functions you can use to ensure the required performance, availability and security of a network. The course lasts three days.
Diagnostics and Optimization of Industrial WLAN
In this training course, you will learn how to correctly asses wireless signals. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to familiarize yourself with available tools as well as learn which parameters can be adjusted to ensure the required network performance. Practical exercises and corresponding checklists round out this training course. The course lasts two days.
Monitoring and Configuration of Industrial Networks (multidisciplinary)
In this course, you will learn how to use the SINEMA Server network management software to monitor, diagnose, and document your network from a central location. The course covers basic knowledge and skills needed to plan, implement and manage your network monitoring solution. The course lasts three days.
Remote Communication in Industrial Networks (multidisciplinary)
This course provides instruction regarding the planning and implementation of networks for remote communication. In addition, you will learn how to install and commission SINEMA RC solutions – and how to practically apply the possibilities and various functions they offer. The course lasts three days.
Siemens Certified Professional for Industrial Networks
This module will provide the profound knowledge of planning, implementing and securing plain industrial networks. You will also receive training on how to integrate these into corporate networks. These training courses are aligned with international standards and ensures open and flexible architectures. The training to a „Siemens Certified Professional for Industrial Networks“ is divided into three units each – with focus on SCALANCE or RUGGEDCOM. You can take part in these separately or take them in succession (which we recommend) so you can build on the previous courses. At the end oft he course, we offer a certification for each topic. The qualification is based on the Switching and Routing in Industrial Networks topic. We recommend you follow this with the Security in Industrial Networks topic and the Wireless LAN in Industrial Networks or WiMAX in Industrial Networks topic. Certification is a part of the course. Once you have qualified, certification is valid for three years.
Switching and Routing in Industrial Networks
This training course is designed for everyone who has to deal with switched solutions in an industrial environment – from decision-makers to administrators. The training course part on Switching teaches you how to set up so-called switched networks as well as redundancy mechanisms for high reliability – and includes many practical exercises. The training course part on Routing deals with the fundamentals of routing communication and includes practical exercises – along with troubleshooting and diagnosis. The course takes five days.
Wireless LAN in Industrial Networks / WiMAX in Industrial Networks
In the training course „Wireless LAN in Industrial Networks“ or „WiMAX in Industrial Networks“ you will learn about the special requirements of this technology in industrial environments. The elementary components of this course are performance and security in IWLAN or WiMAX. Like all our other training courses, this also involves intensive, hands-on work. This course takes 2,5 or 3 days.
Security in Industrial Networks
The potential risks facing industrial networks are varied and widely known. This training course shows you how to effectively prevent the consequences of attacks on networks. You will learn protection concepts and how to apply them in specific, practical exercises, and in the end you will be able to correctly assess threats and put countermeasures. This course takes 2,5 or 3 days.
First-hand experiences from course participants
Entertaining, informative, and most of all, a milestone in the development of personal skills: our training courses open up new opportunities and pave the way for professional success within the field of industrial communication networks. And they definitely leave a lasting impression on all participants.
This learning module covers the basics of Ethernet-based networks without industrial specifications. Universal techniques based on industry examples are used to facilitate understanding. The web-based training (WBT) provides an introduction to industrial networks technology. The Industrial Ethernet Fundamentals classroom training takes you through the seven layers of the OSI reference model with a focus on the network layers 1-3 – the basic knowledge you need to take part in our certification courses.
Web-based Training Data Communication with Industrial Ethernet
This web-based training course (WBT) will familiarize you with the principles of creating industrial networks and the main transmission media, devices, architectures and specialist terminology. We will also explain the structure of standard Ethernet networks using typical examples drawn from industry.
Ethernet Fundamentals in Industrial Networks
Additionally, the course Ethernet Fundamentals in Industrial Networks will give you a broad overview in network technology and mechanisms which is the foundation of today’s digital communication. Ever heard of the OSI reference model, for example? This course takes you on a tour through all seven layers.
