Investment philosophy 

Our investment approach is based on high-quality selection and systematic diversification to generate an optimal risk-reward profile for private assets.

We primarily invest in funds in Private Equity, Private Debt and Private Infrastructure and only occasionally sign co-investments with our fund manager.

History

We have built a global private assets portfolio for the German Siemens pensions plans with €2bn Assets under management since 2007.

Since 2018 the Alternatives Team is an integral part of Siemens Fonds Invest.

Historie

Seit 2007 haben wir ein globales Private Asset Portfolio für die deutschen Pensionspläne der Siemens AG mit einem Volumen von €2Mrd. aufgebaut.

Seit 2018 ist das Alternatives Team integraler Teil der Siemens Fonds Invest GmbH.

We are a well diversified team with complementary backgrounds.

Michael Aust 

Michael Aust joined the team in 2010 and is currently responsible for our buyout and growth fund investments in Asia.

 

Prior to Siemens, Michael worked for three years in strategy consulting at The Boston Consulting Group.

 

Michael earned a master's degree in business administration and economics from WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management in Germany. 

Martina Baer

Martina Baer joined the team in 2016. She provides administrative, operational and executive support to the Team.

 

Prior to Siemens Fonds Invest she worked for the Siemens Historical Institute, the Siemens Corporate Communications Department and the Siemens Arts Program.

 

After training as a publisher, she began her career in 2005 at Siemens and had an opportunity to establish important contacts and build up a global network  within the Group.

Doris Blasel

Doris Blasel joined the team in 1999 when it was Siemens Venture Capital and leads the Venture Capital Asset Management globally.

 

Doris has an extensive network across the Venture Capital industry in the U.S., across Europe, as well as in Israel and China. Prior to Siemens, Doris spent 13 years in the public administration.

 

She holds a diploma in Business Administration from the University of Applied Sciences in Constance and a diploma in Public Administration from the University of Applied Sciences in Kehl.

Susanne von Gueltlingen

Susanne von Gueltlingen joined the team in 2008 and is currently responsible for strategic planning as well as the global portfolio of credit funds, infrastructure and secondaries.

 

Prior to this, Susanne was a spokesperson at Siemens Investor Relations. Before Siemens, Susanne held various positions in M&A and IPO advisory, private equity advisory and leveraged finance at Goldman Sachs, Triton, ABN Amro and HypoVereinsbank.

 

Susanne holds a master’s degree in business administration from WHU, Koblenz (Germany).

Michel Hiebl

Michel Hiebl is expected to join the team in May 2020 and is currently supporting the respective investment managers with their buyout and growth fund investments across US, Europe and Asia.

 

Prior to Siemens, Michel gained professional experience in Private Equity at MEAG, a leading asset management company.

 

Michel is pursuing a M.Sc. degree in Business Administration and Economics from the University of Hagen and a B.Sc. in Information-oriented Business Studies at the University of Augsburg.

Vaishnavi Katamreddy

Vaishnavi Katamreddy joined the team in 2012 and is currently responsible for our buyout and growth fund investments in Europe.

 

Vaishnavi spent 5 years doing direct Private Equity investments in India with Peepul Capital and D. B. Zwirn, and prior to that, she was a part of the investment banking team at ICICI Securities.

 

Vaishnavi is a graduate of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and completed her Bachelors in Computer Science and Engineering from Shivaji University. 

Oliver Kneschewitz

Oliver Kneschewitz joined the team in 2013 and is currently responsible for our buyout and growth fund investments in the US.

 

Prior to Siemens, Oliver spent 4 years at vonBraun&Schreiber, a German Private Equity Fund of Funds. Before that, he held several Investment banking (Deutsche Bank, Houlihan Lokey) and Investment management positions in London, Frankfurt and Munich.

 

Oliver has a Diplom-Kaufmann degree from University of Mannheim and is a CFA® charterholder. 

Fabia Kowallik

Fabia Kowallik joined the team in 2018. She is responsible for financial and operational topics as well as the management of a fund of funds structure.

 

Fabia joined from Allianz Capital Partners where she was a finance expert in the alternative investments sector for 3 years. Before that, she spent one year in Luxembourg supporting the ramp-up phase of a multinational alternative investments structure.

 

Fabia holds a M.Sc. in Business Administration with tech. focus from Technical University of Munich.

Shruti Pattanaik

Shruti Pattanaik joined the team in 2019 and is responsible for venture and growth capital fund investments in the US, Europe, Israel and China.

 

Prior to joining Siemens, Shruti worked for a year as a scientist in a pharmaceutical start-up. She has also worked on scientific projects across universities and research institutes in Austria, Belgium and Germany.

 

Shruti earned a master’s degree in Management from the Technical University of Munich. Additionally, she holds an integrated master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the IIT Roorkee.

Vanessa Schmidt

Vanessa Schmidt joined the team in 2014 and is responsible for venture capital and technology growth fund investments in the US, Europe, Israel and China.

 

Prior to Siemens, Vanessa worked for two years as a research assistant within a newly established project group of Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft in Augsburg. She was responsible for project management and operations of research and consulting projects in the area of energy and resource efficient manufacturing.

 

Vanessa holds a diploma degree in management and technology from Technical University of Munich

Ralf Schnell

Ralf Schnell founded the PE and VC asset management program for the German Pension Trusts of Siemens in 2007 and has been heading the team since then.

 

From 1997 to early 2018 he was Venture Capitalist, founder and CEO of Infineon Ventures, CEO of Siemens Venture Capital and Partner at next47. Prior to that, he worked as researcher and developer in microelectronics and software for Siemens and Infineon Technologies.

 

Ralf studied Physics in Munich and received his PhD in Physics. 

Yilan Wang

Yilan Wang joined the team in June 2020 to support buyout and growth fund investments across US, Europe and Asia.

 

Prior to Siemens, Yilan gained professional experience in investment management and auditing at Credit Suisse, Lombard Odier Investment Manager and PwC in Switzerland and China.

 

Yilan holds a Master of Arts degree in Banking and Finance from University of St. Gallen (HSG) in Switzerland and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance from Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU).
