1925

Business transactions in Afghanistan are conducted by Siemens India

 

1928

Afghanistan’s royal couple visits Berlin-Siemensstadt

 

1931

An engineer is sent to Afghanistan to represent the interests of Siemens & Halske (S&H) and Siemens-Schuckertwerke (SSW)

 

1937-1941

Construction of two hydroelectric power plants: the Wardack plant, which supplies electricity for Kabul, and the Pul-i-Ghomri plant, which powers a textile factory

 

1954

A subsidiary is established under the name Siemens Afghanistan Ltd.

 

1957

A sales company with the same name is opened in Kabul

 

1957

The Sarobi hydroelectric power station, built from 1954 to 1957 by a consortium including SSW and Siemens-Bauunion, goes into operation

 

1962

His Excellency Attik Rafiq, brother-in-law of the Afghan king, acquires a stake in Siemens Afghanistan Ltd., strengthening the position of Siemens Kabul in the eyes of Afghan authorities

 

1969

Siemens Afghanistan Ltd. is converted into a base

 

1977

Siemens Afghanistan Ltd. is closed. Afghan Electrical Engineering and Equipment Ltd. is founded to represent Siemens AG in Afghanistan

 

2003

A permanent office is established in Kabul

 

2008

The Regional Company Pakistan takes over responsibility for the Siemens Branch in Afghanistan
