The digitalization of the metalworking industries is picking up speed. The potential is enormous – sustainable competitive advantages through shorter time-to-market, greater flexibility and quality.
You experienced the connection of the virtual and real production world on the basis of intensive industry knowledge and unmatched competence in the field of metal forming.
This year's highlight was the digitalization of press systems.
You have seen how the connection to MindSphere simplifies your press work and what the key benefits are of having a digital twin for mechanical engineering.
Connecting the real and the virtual worlds – Digitalization based on the example of a C-frame servo press
You've experienced digitalization live: Based on the example of the C-frame servo press we connected the real world to the virtual world. The Mechatronics Concept Designer (MCD) mapped the digital twin to the real press. Through the connection to MindSphere and the specially designed MindApp, the data of the press could be analyzed and displayed graphically on-site. You have been able to find out more about condition monitoring and predictive maintenance at our booth.
For the first time, Siemens presented the scalability of servo press solutions in the segment of < 100-ton presses, which were equipped with a failsafe SIMATIC S7-1500 technology CPU.
Press line simulation (PLS) – The key to digitalization the press shop
The PLS simulation software from Siemens was one of the central building blocks for the press shop of the future. Thanks to PLS, both the motion control and the interaction of press, transfer and feed system could be analyzed and optimized. The user benefit was clear: The digital mapping of the complete system enables precise throughput planning.
Intelligent solutions for hydraulic systems
You experienced the solution for hydraulic presses and servo pumps based on the SIMATIC S7-1500 Advanced Controller for standard and failsafe applications at the Siemens booth. The new SIMATIC SimaHyd toolbox enabled synchronous operation of hydraulic cylinders on the machine.
The Press safety library in the TIA Portal
TIA Portal V15 provides users with new functions in the press safety library, such as the innovated brake test.
Already familiar from the Advanced Controller SIMATIC S7-1500, the safety blocks developed and certified by Siemens are also available for the first time for the Basic Controller SIMATIC S7-1200 with Safety Integrated. Thanks to the simulation with SIMATIC S7-PLCSIM, the press safety library is now also ready for digitalization.
