Enlit online series 2020 / 2021

Who could have imagined that this year would be so special? We would have been so glad to meet you in the beautiful city of Milan, discussing exciting trends and challenges for smart grids and the energy transition. But let's meet online. Join us in the Enlit online series.

Webinar from February 4, 2021,

IoT, IIoT and AIoT, where is the future taking us?

Data Hub Series Season 1 Episode 2

The internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are powerful technologies. When combined, AI and IoT, they create AIoT - the artificial intelligence of things.

One can think of internet of things devices as the digital nervous system while artificial intelligence is the brain of a system. Use of AI and other technologies within IoT and IIoT infrastructure.

Siemens speaker:

  • Presentation: Robert Klaffus,  CEO Digital Grid, Siemens Smart Infrastructure

Webinar from January 25, 2021

What if there was one Data Platform in Europe

Data Hub Series Season 1 Episode 1

This episode is going to focus on ideas on creating and operating a common data platform ensuring data protection and compliance for all stakeholders. How to make data relevant/meaningful.

Siemens speaker:

  • Presentation: Sabine Erlinghagen,  CEO Digital Grid, Siemens Smart Infrastructure

Webinar from November 25, 2020

Driving the grid edge revolution

An index for grid edge need and readiness

Grid edge technologies are an essential tool in the transformation of global energy – facilitating the adoption of renewables, turning consumers to prosumers, and mitigating climate change. Attend live and learn which solutions are appropriate for a region, or how ready they are to deploy them at scale.

  • Michael Weinhold, Chief Technology Officer, Siemens Smart Infrastructure
  • Malcolm McCulloch, Professor, Energy and Power Group, University of Oxford
  • Joachim Müller-Kirchenbauer, Professor, Department of Energy and Resource Management, Technische Universität Berlin

Moderator: Kevin O'Donovan, Technology Evangelist

Keynote from October 29, 2020

What if the global pandemic accelerated the green transition?

Matthias Rebellius, CEO of Smart Infrastructure, will talk about recent industry challenges – in light of COVID-19 and beyond. Because as much as we need to flatten the curve of the pandemic, we need to do even more to tackle climate change. How can we make our grids smarter, efficient and more reliable? How has the pandemic accelerated this development? Tune in to the session and connect with us!

Energy transition

The new era of grid operation has already begun

Decarbonized, decentralized, and digitalized grids will characterize the future of energy. Discover how new solutions and various beacon projects are making distribution grid operators and utility companies more independent, more agile, and more profitable.
Recap of EUW 2019 in Paris!

For energy-intelligent societies.

Creating environments that care.

Together with our customers and partners we drive the transition to sustainable, low-carbon, resource-efficient societies. Jointly we create an ecosystem that intuitively responds to the needs of people, supports sustainable development and helps our customers to capitalize on the multitude of opportunities and to better use resources.

At this year's EUW we talked how we are combining the strengths of Siemens in Electrification, Automation and Digitalization and enable customized solutions for municipalities, transmission and distribution system operators, generation companies and large energy consumers.

We help to find your optimized mix of conventional and renewable energy sources with efficient generation, further electrification, intelligent power grids, adaptive storage systems, innovative resilience and agile demand and supply shaping.

Together we make the world a more connected and caring place – see you next time!

Our highlights at the EUW 2019

Topic highlights

Sustainable grids

The call for environmental protection is shifting the use of energy from fossil sources towards renewable energy sources, especially wind and solar. Our portfolio – from integration of renewable energy sources supported by battery and hydrogen storage solutions to environmentally friendly products, solutions, and systems – helps our customers to get a future-proof energy supply on track.

Smart distribution

Distribution power grids need to handle increasing distributed in-feed of renewable energy, fluctuating peak times, and many more.  We are helping to prepare your grids for the challenges of the transition to a new energy mix. Ranging from a ring main unit on medium-voltage side, a distribution transformer with sensor connectivity, innovative low-voltage components and a comprehensive basket of distribution grid applications for condition monitoring and automation such as self-optimizing grid solution.

Internet of Energy

We are connecting automated energy systems to the Internet of Energy ensuring full data transparency for maximum efficiency, reliability and grid safety. At the heart: the electrical digital twin, a perfect virtual image of the physical grid leading to increased efficiency in network planning and operation. We jointly co-create with our customers innovative digital applications - powered by MindSphere with the clear aim of turning data into business value.

Grid edge

Our solutions empower our customers to integrate renewables efficiently, to set up microgrids with different degrees of autonomy; including storage solutions of all sizes. We also provide eMobility charging infrastructure, from charging stations to flexible software solutions, as well as products and solutions for smart buildings and their integration into the overall grid or distributed energy systems. In short: intelligent energy meets smart buildings, and that interface has a name: the grid edge.
