interpack 2017

May 4 - 10, 2017, Düsseldorf | Hall 6, Booth D27

Innovation in packaging – benefits of digitalization

Under the motto "Innovation in packaging – benefits of digitalization" Siemens exhibited interpack in Düsseldorf, from May 4th to 10th, 2017.

The digitalization and the consequent transformation in manufacturing are successively gaining in importance in the packaging industry: From the digital value added chain within the engineering process up to the simple line integration of machines.

The focus of Siemens AG's exhibition in hall 6, booth D27 was directed toward innovative automation solutions for packaging machines, such as the Multi-Carrier-System.

New machine concepts were presented in which requirements such as speed, efficiency, individuality and flexibility are in accordance with each other. Another Highlight at the fair was MindSphere, the cloud-based open IoT operating system from Siemens, which can offer you completely new possibilities in the field of digital services. Also from the plant operator perspective, innovative solutions with examples from the food and beverage industry, as well as from the pharmaceutical industry were shown.

Innovation in machine building – Advantages of digitalization along the entire value added chain

Individualized medicines require high performance filling and packaging machines. Only with a consistently integrated digital twin of the machine all the processes – from commissioning up to retrofitting – can be tested and optimized in advance, without laborious test setups. This also makes it possible to train operators in advance and reduce the engineering time by up to 30%. Bausch + Ströbel Maschinenfabrik Ilshofen GmbH+Co. KG already benefits from the advantages of digitalization and the integration of hardware and software solutions from Siemens.

Digitalization in the packing industry – From digital twin up to real connected machines

With our consistent engineering, even highly complex machine projects can be implemented with low risk and the time can be optimized.

An essential element here is the Digital Enterprise Suite (including PLM software such as Teamcenter or NX). A further element that is gaining increasingly in importance is the cloud-based open IoT operating system MindSphere. It offers data analysis, manifold connectivity, tools for developers, applications and services. MindSphere supports you in evaluating and using your data to obtain new insights. This enables you to optimize the performance of your resources and equipment for maximum availability. A solution portfolio with a real customer machine as an example was shown at the fair.
