Smart City Expo World Congress

The digital transformation of cities

At this year’s Smart City Expo, let us explore how cities can become more liveable through digital technologies. There are a number of prerequisites to succeed as cities of tomorrow. Among them: Digital infrastructure, distributed energy systems, smart buildings and smart grids. Digitally enabled infrastructure, based on a foundation of electrification and automation, can drive efficiencies in services through optimization of operations and equipment, changing operational patterns based on demand, and managing and maintaining systems remotely. Unlocking the potential of digitalization for cities, Siemens combines urban hardware experience with software skills. Siemens offers its cloud-based, open IoT operating system MindSphere to make infrastructure components smart and prevent equipment failures before they happen. Connected machines upload data to the cloud to be analyzed. That’s where data turns into business insights that can increase efficiency and profitability.

Expo 2020 Dubai

Creating a blueprint for future smart cities at Expo 2020 Dubai

A World Expo is about spectacular structures and ingenious inventions. Architecture and innovative technology have never been as closely linked as they’re going to be at Expo 2020 Dubai.

More than 130 buildings at the site will be connected via Internet of Things or IoT technology, making Expo 2020 Dubai a blueprint for future smart cities. Thanks to a newly developed application, the infrastructure can be monitored and controlled in real-time on a smartphone.

Expo 2020 Dubai is not only a fair. It is going to be a test run for the future smart city. Siemens is working closely with the organizers of Expo 2020 Dubai to get this goal.

Siemens Atlas of digitalization recognizes Dubai´s potential to advance City 4.0

Cities are undergoing a dramatic transformation as part of the fourth industrial revolution. They are increasingly using digital technologies to respond to the spread of urbanization and the huge range of challenges related to this trend. The interactive “Atlas of Digitalization” shows how this transformation is affecting six selected metropolitan areas around the world and how digital technologies are helping them improve the quality of urban life both today and tomorrow.
