Solutions for protecting the climate

One open innovation team has invented a new synthesis process that converts climate-damaging CO₂ into “green” fuel with hydrogen.

Open Innovation

They develop technical solutions to protect the climate: Inventors of the Year Alexander Tremel (37), Katharina Meltzer (33), both from Gas and Power, Manfred Baldauf (53), Corporate Technology, and Chemical Engineer Professor Peter Wasserscheid (49) of Friedrich-Alexander University, Erlangen-Nuremberg, have invented a new synthetic process that offers a very effective method for creating the fuel methanol from hydrogen and carbon dioxide (CO₂). Their award in the Open Innovation category recognizes their work in this field.
We quite deliberately thought outside the box, and that produced results after a number of years.
Manfred Baldauf, Corporate Technology.
