Passion runs through the whole team at Lazer Helmets in Mont-Saint-Guibert, Belgium. Most of them combine their love for motorcycling with the design and manufacturing of helmets. One of them is Aurélien Lemère, Head of Design at Lazer S.A. Based on his sketches and a 3D CAD file, the engineers start working on any possible detail of the helmet.
Using NX we are saving two to three weeks.Benoit Arnould, Senior Engineer at Lazer S.A.
“We use NX to make the design and to engineer all parts of the helmet. We have to know how to assemble the parts and we have to take into account what the impact is”, says Benoit Arnould, Senior Engineer at Lazer S.A. “Using NX we are saving two to three weeks”, he concludes.
High helmet design sophistication
“Consumer products now have such a high level of design sophistication. They look good, ergonomic, they are very expressive”, says Alexander de Vos van Steenwijk, President, Lazer Helmets.
We seek the really extreme edges of molding capabilities. NX was good enough to do this. And this is amongst, I would say, the most sophisticated on the market today.Alexander de Vos van Steenwijk, President, Lazer Helmets
Such expressive shapes are very difficult to engineer. There are also limits to what a mold-maker can do. However, the team of Lazer Helmets seeks “the really extreme edges of molding capabilities”, Alexander de Vos van Steenwijk says. “NX was good enough to do this. And this is amongst, I would say, the most sophisticated on the market today.”
Lazer was set-up as a family business in 1919 and is the oldest manufacturer of sports helmets in the World. From its beginnings in an attic where leather articles were made to the hundreds of thousands of helmets produced nowadays, the Belgian brand has always had a philosophy of developing the best products with the best technologies available in each era.
Lazer Helmets today is known for its dedication to technical innovation and advanced engineering. As proven by their award-winning technology, SuperSkin® protection, for example. With a strong reputation for safety as well, it is not surprising that Lazer Helmets are worn by adventure seekers from around the world, e.g. the Belgian and Nigerian national bobsled teams.
