What do the 127 million FC Bayern fans worldwide have in common with the operators of advanced power stations, transportation infrastructure, high tech factories, high speed trains, and more? They all benefit from our strive for performance.
An amazing fan loyalty is rewarded with the exciting game experience, provided by FC Bayern and contributed to by Siemens. Good attack football, the versatility of the players combined with complex positional play define the club's signature approach.
Siemens has a new role with FC Bayern as a partner for performance, helping FC Bayern to create the magical fan experience at the heart of the game, while contributing to the ecosphere touching lives beyond stadium walls. Optimizing performance, delivering new levels of value, and re-setting expectations of what's possible thanks to digitalization is driven by ingenuity. Our partnership is based on shared values, collaboration and co-creation.
The better the playing surface is, the better the game! For the transmission cameras, the grass should shine in the most beautiful green color. It should give the players a solid grip. It should accelerate the ball. And all that during the whole season, even when it's cold outside and the grass tends to go dormant.
It’s not only “the sweat that makes green grass grow.” The "FC Bayern Greenkeeper app" can make greenkeepers’ work easier and give the grass a voice. Sensors collect the data and send it to MindSphere, the cloud-based open IoT operating system from Siemens. Subsequently, the data is evaluated by the app and converted into recommendations for actions: Pour more water! Beam stronger light for the grass for longer time! Turn on the turf heater!
Siemens worked together with the participants on-site co-creating solutions. In order to provide the real-life business context, Siemens provided SIMATIC IoT2040 devices which could be used by the participants to send data into the cloud. Also, participants had the chance to test the MindSphere applications, with the support of Siemens experts.
The winning team of the Siemens challenge came up with 3D synthesizing of FC Bayern players through displays at U-Bahn and S-Bahn stations in Munich or inside the trains. Based on live traffic data that can read the crowds, the player avatars can interact with fans. Moreover people receive information, for example, when the next train is arriving or which is the fastest to the stadium. The journey truly becomes part of the individual fan experience.
The right equipment makes all the difference. In fact, it's essential. It improves traction, stability and lessens the risk of injury.
Individualized sport articles help athletes to perform at the highest level. Yet this requires a manufacturing process that is flexibly adaptive and integrates new technologies fast.
As a world market leader for digital factory automation and simulation solutions, Siemens is helping to change the game through digitalization. Siemens collaborates with many manufacturers in the sports industry to help them respond more quickly, transparently and individually to the athletes needs. For example, with pass-through products to produce equipment that meets the professionals exact, individual functional requirements.
Football teams and their stadia are economic hubs for the local area. They also bear a responsibility to make game day as smooth as possible and to minimize disruption.
For instance, with trains, metros, and on light rail visitors get to and from the stadium safely and easily. Likewise, Siemens traffic management systems regulate the flow of traffic on the motorways near the stadium. This makes trips to the stadium less stressful for fans and the impact on surrounding communities is reduced. Digital solutions anticipate the traffic volume, adjusting traffic signals to manage the huge influx of supporters into the parking areas; and easing the flow of traffic as fans leave at the end of the game.
