#SiemensxFCBAs a technology leader, we’re supporting FC Bayern on its path toward digital transformation. With our hardware and software offerings, automation solutions, digital services, and industry knowledge, we’re helping the championship record holder become a pioneer in digitalization and sustainability – on and off the field as well as on the virtual field and the gaming console.
What do million FC Bayern fans worldwide have in common with the operators of advanced power stations, transportation infrastructure, high-tech factories, and high-speed trains? They all benefit from our continuous quest for improved performance and sustainability. FC Bayern rewards its fans’ loyalty with unforgettable game experiences. And Siemens is playing a role in this.
As FC Bayern’s official performance partner, we’re supporting the club in providing extraordinary fan experiences in all disciplines, delighting people above and beyond the actual game. Improving performance, creating new added value, and exceeding expectations in terms of the possibilities offered by digitalization
Working mainly quietly and behind the scenes, our solutions ensure:
Siemens is accompanying FC Bayern on its journey toward becoming a sustainable enterprise. Our aim is to provide intelligent energy storage and energy management systems for the Allianz Arena and the team’s training site on Saebener Strasse. These technologies help FC Bayern Munich to work more energy-efficiently and position itself at the front of the pack in terms of sustainability.
Soccer makes our hearts beat faster. With #FCBayernPulse, we are measuring the heart rate of fans during the 2020/21 Bundesliga season. At the same time, we are capturing match intensity using computer vision. To do this, we collect visual data based on the collective speed of players and action near the goal. This unique approach gives us exceptional insights into the course of the game from the fans' point of view. Our interactive website analyzes the data, reveals exciting patterns, and displays the collective FC Bayern pulse:
Where were the loudest cheers? In the 2018/19 Bundesliga season, we recorded sound levels during five home games in the Allianz Arena to visualize fan energy in the stadium. Our Reimagine the Game campaign has received prestigious awards for revealing the exciting dynamics between fans and the team:
We give the grass a voice
“Hallowed turf”: This is the term for the ground on which victories are won or defeats suffered. For the cameras, the grass should shine in the most beautiful green hue. For the players, it should provide good traction. And in terms of the ball, it should accelerate play. All this needs to be in play throughout the entire season – even when it's cold outside and the grass is actually dormant. A MindSphere app for FC Bayern's greenkeeper is now designed to make his job easier and give the grass a voice – literally. Sensors collect the data and send it to MindSphere, the cloud-based open IoT operating system from Siemens. The data is then evaluated by the app and converted into recommendations for actions. Combining this data with their own knowledge as experts, the greenskeepers then know whether the grass should be watered or more highly illuminated and when they need to turn on the turf heater.
Our partnership is based on performance and diversity. We are involved in the men's team as well as in basketball. And, together with FC Bayern, we are dominating the virtual space. We have also supported the Esports team since 2019. Just as our business world is evolving, so, too, is the world of sports. Since 2019, FC Bayern has also competed in the KONAMI eFootball.Pro League with a team. "We made a conscious choice to back football simulation games in Esports," said CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge about the decision. With its NBA 2K19 team, FC Bayern Basketball has also been playing basketball in Esports since 2018.
Unleashing the magic of the game
FC Bayern cannot stand still, and it cannot take the fans for granted. The club wants to deliver a memorable experience for fans and ensure that everything runs smoothly. When tens of thousands of people pour into the Allianz Arena for a game, Siemens is there, behind the scenes, with its solutions for mobility, safety, and power supply. Digital technologies are key here: for fans, for players, and for the city of Munich during home games.
Bringing out the best
As global market leader in digital factory automation and simulation solutions, Siemens collaborates with many manufacturers in the sports industry. We help them respond more quickly, transparently, and individually to their customers’ needs. That way, they can more quickly manufacture products that are tailored precisely to the individual needs of professionals.
Stress-free travel to and from the stadiumFootball teams and their stadiums are regional hubs. Everyone wants to have game days that are as smooth as possible. Every home game attracts tens of thousands of fans. Some travel hundreds of kilometers to see their clubs play and to cheer them on.
Trains, metros, and trams from Siemens help visitors get to and from the game quickly and safely. Siemens traffic management systems regulate the flow of traffic on the roads leading to the stadiums. This makes travel less stressful for fans, and ensures less impact on surrounding neighborhoods. Digital solutions forecast the traffic volume and adjust traffic signals to manage the flow of traffic into the parking areas – and out again when the game is over.
