Things to know about unmanaged switch SCALANCE X-100

Why use an unmanaged switch?

When is an unmanaged switch the right choice in the building of industrial networks? Read more to learn when you should rely on the features of unmanaged switches when building your network.

When is an unmanaged switch suitable?

The main advantage of unmanaged switches is that they do not need to be configured. They can be easily integrated into your industrial network. This enables fast network integration. At the same time, however, unmanaged switches have a limited range of functions in contrast to managed switches. In terms of security and performance, unmanaged switches in the industrial environment are designed for fast, uncomplicated networking in machine-oriented applications. Our SCALANCE X-100 unmanaged switches are the ideal solution for this and are also suitable for use in harsh environmental conditions.

FastConnect – a cabling system gets the hang

Structured cabling is the basis of an industrial bus system or network and must fulfill much higher requirements than cabling in the office area. Stringent demands are placed on the installation of cables in the industrial environment. For SCALANCE X-100 unmanaged switches, Siemens offers FastConnect, a system that fulfills all these requirements: On-site assembly – quick, easy and error-free.
