Sample configuration

The RTUs are connected via public or private communication networks (Remote Networks) using an external industrial router like SCALANCE M. The router is connected to the TIM’s Ethernet interface. TIM 1531 IRC has three Industrial Ethernet interfaces and one serial interface for connecting a modem (like MD720). This allows it to provide a variety of redundant transmission paths (for example, Internet and mobile wireless) to higher-level stations. Even if the primary connection fails, the TIM can still transfer the data.

RTUs based on the SIMATIC S7-400 Advanced Controller are especially suitable for complex process plants. They can be connected to a telecontrol center via the TIM 4R-IE or TIM 4R-IE DNP telecontrol interface module.
