The IWLAN RCoax coaxial cable’s radio quality is impressive; and it’s also robust and can be easily installed along the route.

Easy integration of the IWLAN RCoax Cable in wireless networks

For wireless applications in Industrial Wireless LANs, the IWLAN RCoax Cable is available in two variants for the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands. RCoax radiating cables can be easily connected to SCALANCE W Access Points as an external antenna. The mobile participants are connected conveniently with SCALANCE W Client Modules.

Operating principle of the IWLAN RCoax Cable

RCoax radiating cables are Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) antennas for industrial applications that can be laid as a cable. The coaxial cable is installed along the route that is used by moving participants, e.g. within the rail of an overhead monorail. The radio signal exits through openings in the outer conductor – thus establishing the radio connection with the mobile participant.

Reliable radio connection with IWLAN RCoax Cable

Thanks to its special radiation characteristics, the IWLAN RCoax Cable can establish a reliable radio field also in places where ordinary omnidirectional or directional antennas do not achieve continuous coverage, as with overhead monorails. With the RCoax Cable, the radio field can be defined along the route, such as a rail, without causing interference in other network segments of the production.

More antennas and other accessories

As an alternative to the IWLAN RCoax Cable, you can also combine your SCALANCE products with other antenna types featuring different radiation characteristics. Of course, you will also find other accessories that are optimally matched to the SCALANCE products, such as cabling technology and mounting accessories – including cables, lightning protection elements, and plug-in connectors.

WLAN from the control cabinet

Implement wireless networking of machines easily and economically – with SCALANCE W760 Access Points and SCALANCE W720 Client Modules! Due to their practical SIMATIC design, minimum space is required in the control cabinet when integrating automation components such as a SIMATIC ET 200SP seamlessly into an industrial WLAN, in accordance with the IEEE 802.11n standard and with data rates of up to 150 Mbps.

WLAN for indoors, outdoors and in harsh environments

The SCALANCE W Access Points and Client Modules for demanding solutions can be used in a variety of ways. In combination with additional industrial functions (the so-called iFeature functionalities), application possibilities open up that go far beyond standard WLAN. For example, wireless real-time communication including safety-oriented communication with a focus on personal safety, or redundancy via WLAN.

Depending on the location and communication requirements of the application, different device classes are particularly well suited. 

For particularly high bandwidths

The SCALANCE W1780 Access Points and SCALANCE W1740 Client Modules according to wireless LAN standard IEEE 802.11ac Wave 2, and the SCALANCE WAM766-1 Access Points and SCALANCE WUM766-1 Client Modules according to IEEE 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6) can be used to implement applications even in harsh industrial environments that require particularly high bandwidths, e.g., for high-performance video transmission.
