Every power failure can bring a plant to a standstill and cost a lot of time and money. The SITOP DC UPS systems with different types of energy storage and communications interfaces offer solutions to meet every requirement for buffering times and plant integration. The maintenance-free DC UPSs with capacitor technology deliver reliable 24 V DC for up to a period of minutes, whereas the DC UPSs with battery modules ensure reliable 24 V DC for up to a period of hours. The SITOP UPS systems differ not only in their storage capacities and their performance but also in their functionality: as with the SITOP UPS1600’s ability to communicate via Ethernet/PROFINET and its complete integration in TIA and the automation system to be backed up.
In many PC-based automation solutions, serious damage from a power failure can be prevented by bringing the plant to a defined state. It generally takes about one minute to back up the operating data necessary for this purpose and the subsequent controlled shutdown of the PC. The SITOP UPS500’s double-layer capacitors provide sufficient power for this to be accomplished.
The high-capacitance, double-layer capacitors (Ultracaps) store sufficient energy to shut down PC-based systems safely. Fast charging times ensure that buffering is available quickly once power is restored. Communication with the automation computer is easily implemented via the device’s USB interface.
And in terms of maintenance, SITOP DC UPSs leave nothing to be desired: even at a high ambient temperature, the capacitors have an extremely long service life. Because no maintenance or replacement of the energy storage unit is required, the SITOP UPS500 pays for itself in a short time. And because the capacitors don’t emit any gas, no ventilation of the control cabinet is required.
Whether for use inside or outside a control cabinet – SITOP offers you the right device version. The buffering time of the SITOP UPS500S for DIN rail mounting can be extended by adding expansion modules. The SITOP UPS500P is designed with IP65 degree of protection and can be used on a distributed basis: for example, supplied by the SITOP PSU100P power supply unit.
Applications whose processes must continue to be supplied with power and whose measurement data must continue to be collected or communication networks maintained during power failures require high-capacity energy storage units – like the SITOP DC UPS modules with maintenance-free lead-acid or lithium batteries. They offer a long buffering time and, depending on the power requirements, can supply energy for a period of hours. They also provide unique opportunities for diagnostics and system integration.
The SITOP DC UPS modules with battery modules ensure continued operation, even over a period of hours, depending on battery capacity and power requirements. Sophisticated battery management ensures optimal battery charging. Active battery monitoring even tests the age of the battery, making a precautionary battery replacement unnecessary. Thanks to the SITOP UPS1600 DC UPS, the charging process for the UPS1100 battery modules is temperature-controlled, which also extends the service life of the battery modules.
SITOP UPS1600 also offers comprehensive functions and communicates via USB, Ethernet/PROFINET, and OPC UA. Complete integration into the TIA Portal simplifies engineering. For the open communication via Ethernet, configuration and diagnostics are conveniently performed with the help of the SITOP Manager: this PC software with a Web browser user interface permits simple parameterization: for example, for safely shutting down multiple PCs.
Via PROFINET, the SITOP UPS1600 can even be fully integrated in TIA. Its integrated Web server enables remote monitoring.
Via their OPC UA server, the SITOP UPS1600 modules can communicate with PCs and controllers from different vendors – thanks to the open communication standard. The open interface permits parameterization and diagnosis of the uninterruptible power supply.

Reliably bridge longer power dips on the line side or, if necessary, shut the plant down safely and selectively: the SITOP PSU8600 power supply system can be upgraded to an uninterruptible DC power supply by means of integrated buffer, DC UPS, and battery modules.
The SITOP PSU8600 power supply system can be equipped to bridge line-side voltage dips for up to a period of hours by mounting up to two SITOP BUF8600 buffer modules or SITOP UPS8600 DC UPS modules side by side with up to five BAT8600 battery modules per DC UPS module. To maximize the buffering time for especially important loads, individual outputs of the SITOP PSU8600 can also be selectively switched off. In most cases, this allows the plant to continue operating during a power failure without disruption.
Connection to a PROFINET- and OPC UA-capable SITOP PSU8600 base unit enables the SITOP UPS8600 DC UPS module to communicate with almost any automation system: for example, in order to signal the operating mode, charge status, backup readiness, or the need for battery replacement.
The battery modules have lead-acid (PB) or lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries. Smart battery management permits temperature-controlled charging, which ensures a long battery service life.
