Power heroes for a stable 24 V: SITOP DC UPS
Uninterruptible power supply for critical processes
When the power fails in industrial plants, companies, or data centers, the SITOP DC UPS saves the day by saving technology, files, and data. Thanks to super-powerful battery modules, it maintains the 24 V supply to critical processes for up to a period of hours. As a result, power failures are reliably bridged so that PCs and plants can undergo a safe and controlled shutdown. SITOP also offers a wide range of DC UPS modules and suitable energy storage units that meet all demands for buffering time and plant integration – including, for example, the communication-capable SITOP UPS1600 with the new BAT1600 battery modules.
Powerful 24 V heroes for every application
Several factors determine which SITOP DC UPS is right for you as well as the power level of the battery modules. Use the matrix below to help you decide and select the device combination that’s right for you. The matrix guides you through the selection process in a sequence of steps.

Fully prepared for any situation
Even power failures lasting seconds can disrupt sensitive processes. SITOP offers you a variety of different DC UPS modules for the controlled shutdown of plants, PCs, and IPCs or the successful bridging of power failures lasting from several minutes to several days, thus preventing data losses, production outages, damage to products, etc. With SITOP, you’re optimally equipped for a 24-V uninterruptible power supply.Back up data and shut down the PC
In many PC-based automation solutions, serious damage from a power failure can be prevented by bringing the plant to a defined state. The double-layer capacitors of the SITOP UPS500S deliver enough power to ensure the backup of operating data in the event of a power outage and the subsequent controlled shutdown of the PC.
Powerful, totally maintenance-free, and usable in a variety of applications
The high-capacitance, double-layer capacitors (Ultracaps) of the SITOP UPS500S store sufficient energy to shut down PC-based systems safely. Fast charging times ensure that buffering is available quickly once power is restored. Communication with the automation computer is easily implemented via the device’s USB interface.
Even at a high ambient temperature, the capacitors have an extremely long service life and eliminate the need to replace batteries. And because they emit no gas, there’s also no need to ventilate the control cabinet. The buffering time of the SITOP UPS500S for DIN rail mounting can be extended by adding expansion modules.
Tiered shutdown of machines and plants
Depending on the machine and PC-based automation solution, it’s important for plant and data reliability that not all systems be shut down simultaneously when a power failure occurs. Instead, there needs to be a tiered shutdown of the different control elements, communication participants, and plant sections. This requires adequate power reserves, such as the SITOP UPS1600 DC UPS modules, as well as lithium and lead batteries from the BAT1600 product line, for a buffering time ranging from 5 minutes to a period of hours.
Whether it’s a matter of backing up databases, issuing alarms, or properly logging off of data connections to cloud services, SITOP UPS1600 and its 2.5 Ah or 7.5 Ah BAT1600 lithium batteries, 3 Ah or 12 Ah BAT1600 lead batteries, or 2.5 Ah UPS 1100 pure lead battery supply enough power to permit a tiered shutdown. Intelligent battery management ensures optimal battery charging. Active battery monitoring even tests the age of the battery, making a precautionary battery replacement unnecessary. Thanks to the SITOP UPS1600 DC UPS, the charging process for the BAT1600 battery modules is temperature-controlled, which also extends the service life of the BAT1600 and UPS1100.
The SITOP UPS1600 DC-UPS modules communicate via USB, Ethernet/PROFINET, and OPC UA. Complete integration into the TIA Portal simplifies engineering. For the open communication via Ethernet, configuration and diagnostics are conveniently performed with the help of the SITOP Manager, PC software with a Web browser user interface that can also be used to safely shut down IPCs. Via PROFINET, the SITOP UPS1600 can be fully integrated in TIA. The integrated Web server enables remote monitoring. Via their integrated OPC UA server, the SITOP UPS1600 modules can also communicate with PCs and controllers from different vendors.
NOTE: To ensure the secure operation of a plant or machine, it’s also necessary to take appropriate protective measures and integrate the automation and drive components into a comprehensive, state-of-the-art, industrial security concept. Bridge power failures to ensure operational continuity
When a power outage occurs or it becomes necessary to shut down a plant remotely, high-capacity energy storage units are needed to continue to power processes, record measured data, keep communication channels open, and prevent data losses or damage to files. SITOP UPS1600 and its maintenance-free BAT1600 lead or lithium batteries provide the perfect solution. Thanks to their long buffering times, they can continue to supply energy for up to a period of days, depending on the power demand. They also provide unique opportunities for diagnostics and system integration.
Whether in the process industry, waterworks, wind energy plants, or the food and beverage industry, the SITOP UPS1600 DC-UPS with its 7.5 Ah and 38 Ah battery modules guarantees the continuing operation of critical processes – even for a period of days, depending on battery capacity and power demand. Up to six battery modules can be connected in parallel for a total capacity of up to 45 Ah or 228 Ah. Sophisticated battery management ensures optimal battery charging. Active battery monitoring even tests the age of the battery, making a precautionary battery replacement unnecessary. Thanks to the SITOP UPS1600 DC UPS, the charging process for the BAT1600 battery modules is temperature-controlled, which also extends the service life of the battery modules.

With the SITOP Manager software, all power supply systems in a network can be parameterized and diagnosed using a PC with the Windows 7 or 10 operating system. This is ideal especially if the system configuration and programming aren’t performed in the TIA Portal or SIMATIC Step 7.
Communication between the SITOP Manager and the power supply takes place via OPC UA, the open, manufacturer vendor-independent, and Ethernet-based communication standard. Thanks to the Web browser-based user interface, the application can also run on mobile devices and automatically adapts to the display size.
