Powerful technology functions

SINUMERIK offers technology cycles ranging from a wide variety of drilling operations to pocket milling or engraving, and plunge turning. A very wide range of standard geometries such as rectangular pockets or DIN thread undercuts is covered. Even freely defined contours can be milled or turned. In this case, the intelligent contour machining cycles offer the advantage of residual material detection. Workpieces can be pre-machined with solid tools. More delicate tools are used only in confined spaces. This means that complicated machining operations can be programmed directly on the CNC without a CAM system.

For the efficient programming of freely defined workpiece geometries, SINUMERIK offers a powerful editor for turning and milling geometries, whereby partially defined geometric elements such as circle transitions are automatically calculated. A calculator is therefore not required for CNC programming on the machine.

If the workpiece drawings are available in DXF format, the CNC operator can use the onboard DXF reader to convert the data directly into contours for milling and turning operations, or position patterns for drilling operations.

Powerful transformations allow even machines with complex kinematics to be programmed in a familiar right angle coordinate system. The spectrum extends from face-machining on lathes and peripheral surface machining for cylindrical components, to dynamic 5-axis transformation on milling and turning centers. The combination of transformations and technology cycles forms the perfect basis for multitasking, regardless of whether you are milling on turning centers or turning on milling centers. This means that the range of components for the machine can be increased without any reduction in quality due to reclamping.
