SIMATIC S7-1500 CPUs are scalable in terms of power, memory and quantity structure, they offer future-proof communication with OPC UA and PROFINET, and basic motion control functions.

In addition, the fail-safe versions have a larger memory for standard and fail-safe applications and fail-safe communication via PROFIsafe with PROFINET/PROFIBUS, and guarantee functional safety to SIL 3 in accordance with IEC 62061 and PL e in accordance with ISO 13849.

For high-performance applications

Multifunctional platform CPUs enable the use of programs created with the high-level language C/C++, to allow the continued use of existing technological expertise. They can be used via an API as an application independent of the PLC cycle, and/or as a PLC function block call within the cycle. The required SIMATIC ODK 1500S engineering kit contains the familiar Eclipse editor. The model-based code generation for Matlab Simulink uses SIMATIC Target S7-1500S. The plug-and-Play function of the SIMATIC memory card ensures the long-term spare part compatibility for which it is known.

Maximum availability

Redundant CPUs are synchronized via PROFINET and are suitable for applications in which controller availability is very important. High-availability CPUs support applications in which “bumpless” availability is more important. Synchronization is via dedicated synchronization modules and cables. The primary CPU is programmed just like a standard CPU – the backup CPU is automatically fed with the same program with support from the system, and synchronously monitors the primary CPU in operation.
