Focus on what’s important: your research What is your laboratory’s most important asset? Despite all of the high-tech scientific equipment in modern research facilities, in the end they are still powered by people’s minds. This is why our integrated laboratory solutions are ultimately aimed at providing a comfortable, efficient and regulatory-compliant workspace for you and your employees – so you can focus with peace of mind on your next breakthrough.
In maintaining safe and comfortable working conditions in laboratories, comfort and safety should be primary objectives. Achieving both of these objectives at once and without compromising on economical or ecological aspects is a challenging task. This becomes particularly evident when looking at the average energy consumption of research facilities such as Harvard’s laboratories, which account for almost half of the total energy used at the university’s campuses. Achieving the highest levels of safety and comfort and minimizing energy consumption at the same time is only possible with highly automated, demand-driven systems.
Our laboratory solutions are unique in that they can address this very issue by intelligently linking your entire facility’s infrastructure from fume hoods to room controls and primary plants. The modular system architecture allows you to easily adapt to any changes in room layout or use, which may be frequently occurring in lab spaces. Thanks to continuous exchange of information between all modules and easy data accessibility through a single interface, you can take full advantage of all potentials with regard to safety, economic viability and comfort. This way, you’ll ensure optimal working conditions including minimum noise pollution at all times while meeting the most stringent requirements for the protection of people and the environment.
Energy consumption in laboratories is typically three to eight times higher than in office buildings. This is primarily due to ventilation requirements for worker safety and research integrity: Two thirds of the energy used in a laboratory is associated with meeting air change requirements and comfort control. With the Green Lab Solution, we offer a bundle of products, solutions and services designed to make laboratory spaces more energy-efficient and improve performance.
Depending on the room configuration, fume hoods’ exhaust volume flow can have a large impact on energy consumption in laboratories. By measuring and controlling the opening of the front sash, this volume flow can be reduced or increased according to the current demand. Automatic closing of the front sash when not in use provides additional energy savings.
Our intelligent evacuation systems are activated automatically in case of an incident and can be configured both for live voice announcements and playback of pre-recorded messages. Clear instructions and descriptions of the emergency situation enable the people inside the building to evacuate the danger area quickly and orderly. This effectively prevents the outbreak of panic in hazardous situations.
Our S-LINE fire detectors are equipped with our uniquely intelligent ASAtechnology, which allows exceptionally precise and rapid fire detection and alarming. Aspirating smoke detection ensures earliest possible detection even if air flows or air conditioning and ventilation systems prevent smoke from reaching the fire detectors.
With Sinorix™, we offer a fire suppression solution that is ideally suited to the fire risks in laboratories. Sinorix™ provides quick and reliable extinguishing for a wide variety of fire types. The solutions are tailored to your individual needs to maximize business continuity and provide optimal protection of people, environment, processes, and assets.
Our Critical Environment Technology (CET) enables the safe, precise and fast measurement, control and monitoring of air volume flows and room pressures in buildings. CET uses open-standard interfaces and can be easily integrated into building automation systems for highest levels of efficiency, cost-effectiveness, safety and security in:
• Room ventilation and general exhausts
• Room pressure control
• Laboratory fume hood control
• Room air conditioning
The reliable monitoring of room conditions and airborne particles in critical environments is possible with our Compact Monitoring Technology (CMT). With CMT, you can monitor, store and document up to 100 GMP-relevant environmental parameters – whether temperature, humidity, air velocity, air pressure and particles or access to quarantine areas or highly sensitive medical systems like thrombocyte separators. All necessary components for data acquisition, visualization and archiving are contained in a pre-configured control cabinet. It can be operated via the optional integrated touch panel or from a networked PC, as well as linked to other monitoring systems such as airlock controls or presence detectors.
Reliably controlling and monitoring ventilation and air conditioning parameters has been one of our core competencies for many decades. With our tailored solutions, you profit from minimized installation and operating costs as well as a high level of security against failure. Our HVAC portfolio includes exact, modulating magnetic valves for drop-by-drop precise control, dynamic pressure and volume flow controls as well as calibrated humidity and temperature sensors. All of these products combine quality and reliability with the highest possible energy efficiency.
Demand-driven adjustment of light and shading is a basic component of our cleanroom concepts. By optimizing the control of lights and blinds within your facility, our building automation and control systems enable you to save considerable amounts of energy. This makes our integrated solutions perfectly suitable for achieving energy efficiency class A, which only buildings with the highest level of automation qualify for.
Our access control solutions centrally record user activities and provide a clear overview of all persons present. They combine information from the access control server, personnel files, plant and maintenance data as well as access history in real time to decide whether a person will be allowed to access a certain area at a certain time.
With Compliant Control Technology, we offer intelligent building automation that meets the high technical requirements and particularly the strict regulatory requirements of the life science industry. Compliant Control Technology efficiently controls and monitors all parameters in life science buildings that can influence the quality of processes and products ‒ such as room differential pressures, room temperature and humidity. This way, you can ensure optimal room climate at any time. At the same time, Compliant Control Technology helps you increase the energy efficiency of your buildings and reduce operating costs. For a quick and easy overview of critical parameters, our room control systems are equipped with convenient room displays. They automatically highlight warnings and limit value violations through a change in color as well as display critical alarms in plain text.
