Operators of Fondation Louis Vuitton Museum wanted state-of-the-art building technology to go along with the building’s groundbreaking design. A special focus was on energy efficiency, as French certification authority Certivéa selected the museum as a pilot project for its new quality seal Haute Qualité Environnementale (HQE). The HQE seal is awarded to buildings housing cultural assets that have minimized their energy consumption.
Siemens was chosen to supply systems for heating and cooling, building management and fire safety. “After in-depth analysis we decided to go with the Siemens solution because it is the most efficient system on the market. Another factor that convinced us was the expertise and experience of the Siemens employees,” says Director of Operations Franck Valladeau.
Siemens delivered a geothermal heating and cooling system to help maintain the temperature inside the building using the energy of 12 degree Celsius groundwater. The temperature within the galleries is kept at a constant 25 degrees Celsius for maximum visitor comfort and to preserve the exhibits.
The building management platform Desigo Insight, in combination with the PXC automation stations, takes care of fully automatic control of the temperature and humidity in all galleries to meet the requirements of the exhibits.
The fire safety system from Siemens consists of the Sinteso FS20 fire control panel, the STT20 fire detection system as well as Pro Sens and Top Sens fire detectors.
The Siemens contract package also includes comprehensive 24/7 maintenance for all facilities – with a guaranteed response time of just four hours.
The geothermal heating and cooling system helps minimize energy consumption in line with requirements set down by Certivéa for the HQE seal.
Desigo Insight offers clear graphics, a trend viewer, alarm management, scheduling, reporting and analytics to make it easy to control the entire building and its many functions.
Rigorous testing of the fire protection system proved its efficiency, even in rooms with very high ceilings and challenging volume effects as a result of the unique architecture.
