Süddeutscher Verlag, MunichSüddeutscher Verlag, publisher of the largest nationwide German newspaper "Süddeutsche Zeitung," moved to its new headquarters in mid-2008, a new 100-meter-tall "transparent" high-rise building. Adjacent to the high rise is an annex with conference rooms and exhibition areas. The two structures are joined by a connecting atrium.
A reliable building management solution was required for the newly constructed headquarters. A core requirement for the comfort of employees was air-conditioning that allowed an individualized room climate with maximum energy efficiency.
The Desigo building automation controls lighting, room temperature, window ventilation, mechanical ventilation and protection from the sun in a user-friendly and energy-efficient manner. In addition to air-conditioning, the building automation system is important for the management and optimization of the building’s internal geothermal plant. Employee comfort is guaranteed, as each office room is equipped with the equivalent of an individually adjustable air-conditioning unit.
In the case of complex tasks, the building management system is easy to use for building operators. In addition, the solution offers increased comfort for the staff. In February 2010, the Süddeutscher Verlag headquarters became the first office building in Germany to be awarded with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification.
