Optimal security through digital data platformsIn 2012, the administrative area of the Vodafone Campus in Dusseldorf implemented a comprehensive security solution by Siemens that offers long-term protection for all of the company’s properties. Nine years later, the company is comlementing the existing technology with a cloud-based data management platform. All disruption incidents and reports are recorded and assessed centrally – a smart combination that is impressive in many different respects.
Extensive security tasks
In addition to the Vodafone Campus in Dusseldorf, the international communication group Vodafone has around 450 properties in Germany. The campus is protected by a Siemens fire protection system and security solution integrated access control, video monitoring, intruder alarm and hazard management systems. These systems are connected to the security control centre and are controlled and monitored simultaneously. In addition to the campus data, the control centre also records the disruption incidents in the properties in Germany (including around 179 Vodafone shops) on a separate system. The aim is to link the two databases that have until now been separate from one another, to record them centrally and to assess them in a manner specific to each customer to enable detailed and regular reporting. A cloud-based data management platform from Siemens offers a solution for this: All security-related reports are gathered here and are processed in a clear, transparent and precise manner.
Central data collection and monitoringNavigator, the cloud-based energy and asset management platform from Siemens brings both databases together in a single system, thereby optimising processes across both systems. With this link between the data from alarm receiving equipment and the hazard management system, the number, frequency and distribution of alarms and disruptions can be assessed effectively and continuously.
Precise assessment and comprehensive reporting
The cloud platform records all the data collected, analyses it and displays it on individual dashboards. The disruption incidents at more than 450 properties can be examined. Fifty different types of alarms are currently distinguished, and over 18,000 data series are continuously recorded. The data management platform can be used to display the data on dashboards or send it periodically. Using Data visualisation, users can see at a glance how often which alarms are triggered and where. The data can be read out hourly and sorted according to different criteria, and Vodafone can view the assessments at any time and from any location. Monthly reports on the recorded office buildings and shops are also created.
The data coupling in the Navigator offers Vodafone the systematic analysis and assessment of all systems, including disruption incidents. The client benefits from transparency on the frequency of alarms and about which incidents occur when and where. This means that resources can be planned and used in a targeted manner, and the error correction processes improved. The digital assessment of the data also saves a significant amount of time: The data series are automatically read and prepared. The cloud platform combines all the data centrally in a system, and all users have access to the same datasets. This means the Navigator is part of the comprehensive security solution. The aims is to ensure long-term, integrated protection for all German properties owned by Vodafone.
