Faults in electrical installations can damage or destroy electrical devices, lines, and their surroundings. For this reason, circuit protection devices like miniature circuit breakers (MCBs) and arc fault detection devices (AFDDs) are used to protect power circuits. In the event of overload, a short circuit or other failures, they automatically disconnect the circuit from the supply network, hence allowing for a safer operation of the plant.
