The new class of auto-recloser
The Compact Modular Recloser (CMR) approaches overhead distribution protection in a new way. Its unique design provides fundamental protection and monitoring capabilities for single and multi-phase applications. It presents a quantum leap in technology for cost effectively improving the reliability of overhead medium voltage networks. Featuring a fully insulated housing in a compact design, the lightweight device permits easy installation and fast commissioning. An intuitive interface, wireless connectivity and SCADA integration capability ensure a high degree of user convenience and flexibility. Comprehensive rating options and the practical design of the CMR enable unrestricted deployment onto both urban and rural networks.Single-phase application
Superior ratings up to 38 kV, its modular concept and unique characteristics put the CMR at the forefront of the auto-recloser market. Featuring fully configurable protection and four operations in a sequence, the unit is the ideal solution for sectioning faults on long rural distribution lines. Its unmatched capabilities make it suitable for all sites, even those with inconsistent or no line current.
By eliminating the need for regular maintenance and utilising line voltage as power supply, this new auto-recloser generation addresses all common problems of obsolete hydraulic reclosers. The CMR switch unit has no need of periodic inspection and maintenance¹. It is designed to deliver a 25-year uninterrupted service life. For greater flexibility, utilities can choose between pre-configured options as a drop-in alternative to a traditional hydraulic recloser or to self-configure the devices to take advantage of advanced protection, measurement and logging features.
Multi-phase application
Without requiring auxiliary power supply, the CMR is suitable for urban and rural networks. The system features an integrated controller in the pole top switch, intuitive configuration, installation, operation and wireless access for maximum operator safety and usability. Fully rated for voltage systems up to 27 kV, this clever, completely integrated system is designed for sites with elementary protection needs. Depending on requirements, utilities can choose between SCADA integration via a Remote Control Unit (RCU) or a simplified installation without SCADA, connecting cables and auxiliary supplies. Overall, the CMR presents itself as the most economical option for sites requiring fundamental protection and switching applications.
