With over a century of experience and continuous development in our steam turbine technology, Siemens is a prime partner for your business. More than 120,000 steam turbines delivered worldwide prove that we are a reliable and experienced partner. Our steam turbines work as generator drives or as mechanical drives for compressors or pumps. They play a significant role in many combined cycle and cogeneration plants and in industrial applications. Steam turbines are also often applied in the renewable energy sector. Be it power generation plants, district heating, biomass, waste-to-energy, seawater desalination or solar heat: There is a wide range of applications for steam turbines made by Siemens.
Siemens received an order from Toyo Engineering Corporation for a steam turbine and related products for a biomass power plant in Japan. The equipment will be installed at biomass power plant which New Energy Development Co., Ltd. drives to develop in Yonago city, Tottori prefecture, Japan.
Our steam turbines are designed after a standardized modularized system to design customized steam turbines. This allows highest flexibility in manufacturing and ensures reliability and availability of our products. After extensive consultancy and analysis of your water-steam cycle, we deliver tailor-made steam turbines which fit exactly to your needs.
Since the market introduction of steam power plants with ultra-super critical steam conditions 20 years ago the majority of projects has mainly been on units larger than 600 MW. For these, the applied turbo sets consist of a high pressure and a medium pressure expansion arranged in separate turbine casings.
Resulting from the recently introduced financing guidelines for coal-fired steam power plants, super critical and ultra-super critical steam parameters also become more interesting for applications with smaller power output. To address this market, Siemens introduced a combined high- and intermediate pressure turbine considering super critical steam conditions in order to provide a cost effective solution including the lower output range from 250 to 500 MW.
Floating power plants’ unique characteristic is the ability to deliver them in one piece; almost completely pre-installed following a smart plug & play philosophy. Our new SeaFloat floating power plant concepts can be utilized for mobile and/or permanent installation to alleviate energy shortages for national grid or industrial application. Mobility, flexibility, decentralized power generation, shorter construction time, reliable technology, robust design, optimization for easy maintenance bring benefits and increase your added value.
The SeaFloat power plants range provides a choice of different gas turbine types and the Siemens steam turbine SST-600.
