Continuous technological development
Steam 4.0 – Steam turbines under sucpercritical steam conditions
Since the market introduction of steam power plants with ultra-super critical steam conditions 20 years ago the majority of projects has mainly been on units larger than 600 MW. For these, the applied turbo sets consist of a high pressure and a medium pressure expansion arranged in separate turbine casings.
Resulting from the recently introduced financing guidelines for coal-fired steam power plants, super critical and ultra-super critical steam parameters also become more interesting for applications with smaller power output. To address this market, Siemens introduced a combined high- and intermediate pressure turbine considering super critical steam conditions in order to provide a cost effective solution including the lower output range from 250 to 500 MW.
SeaFloat – Floating steam turbines
Floating power plants’ unique characteristic is the ability to deliver them in one piece; almost completely pre-installed following a smart plug & play philosophy. Our new SeaFloat floating power plant concepts can be utilized for mobile and/or permanent installation to alleviate energy shortages for national grid or industrial application. Mobility, flexibility, decentralized power generation, shorter construction time, reliable technology, robust design, optimization for easy maintenance bring benefits and increase your added value.

Palm - A holistic energy concept while reducing CO2
The current increase of packaging and pulp demand in the fiber industry is accompanied by numerous challenges, including fluctuating costs of energy and raw materials. We will partner with the paper and packaging producer Palm to increase its plant efficiency by providing a holistic energy concept. This includes the electrification of a new paper-machine production line and a new power plant equipped with the latest-generation gas turbine.
