Siemens strengthens digital twin efforts with U.S. grid protection software acquisition
Siemens is acquiring the specialized software company Electrocon International Inc. (EII) to uniquely enhance simulations of power grids and strengthen the company’s electrical digital twin efforts. With the largest and most detailed library of relay models available, EII’s CAPE (Computer-Aided Protection Engineering) software uniquely complements Siemens’s leading PSS® software suite in the field of protection simulation and analysis - aiding customers to more precisely uncover conditions of potential protective device misoperation and resulting avoidable power outages.
PSS® portfolioThe Power System Simulator (PSS®) product portfolio provides a full set of integrated and specialized applications for simulating, analyzing, and modeling transmission, distribution, and industrial power systems as well as gas, water, heating, and cooling infrastructures. Easily integrated into any existing IT environment, our powerful and user-friendly tools feature an intuitive graphical user interface, customizable visualization options, automation capabilities, and efficient data management. Data exchange with other systems – for example, EMS, DMS, AMS, GIS, and other planning tools – is provided through industry standards such as CIM and other native interfaces.
