Green mobility

Because the future is beginning – every day.

Environmentally friendly and efficient mobility is one of the greatest tasks of the future – and it’s our mission. We see mobility as a whole, pointing the way to the future for people and goods. With this in mind, we are developing a number of integrated solutions for transport on road and rail. We create networks, develop new ways, manage and schedule, modernize and optimize. And consistently reduce emissions and energy consumption. Our solutions are already enabling cities and mobility providers to move mountains. And with our innovations and technologies, we are ensuring that tomorrow, too, we can enjoy a sustainable and mobile future that is efficient and environmentally friendly.

Green mobility on the road

The transport of people and goods is responsible for a total of 25 to 30 percent of the world's final energy consumption. The greatest potential for reducing energy consumption is in the area of road traffic. At the same time, a Siemens study based on a model urban district in Munich shows how an almost carbon-free city can become a reality through the coordination of numerous measures to increase the energy efficiency.

Green mobility on the rail

Research, development, economics and politics are looking for new eco-friendly alternatives. Governments around the world are planning to invest USD 478 billion in green stimulus projects. Rail services account for only two percent of final energy consumption. Solutions for further increasing efficiency will shift more transports from road onto rail – for an overall environmental friendly mobility with a smaller carbon footprint.
