It provides the basis for handsfree ticketing without having to know the relevant fares, without queuing and with fast boarding, getting off and changing trains.
With our Next Generation Ticketing app installed, the smartphone detects Bluetooth transmitters installed in the vehicle while the vehicle is in motion and sends the data to the background system for journey construction. The passenger is charged according to the trips made.
With our Next Generation Ticketing, Siemens contributed an important component in the development and implementation of an innovative sales platform for Schweizerische Südostbahn (SOB). The SOB project is the first commercial Be-in/Be-out project (BiBo) of its kind. The system uses the functionality of the BiBo app on a smartphone. Passengers are automatically and contactlessly registered when boarding and disembarking along the SOB network, and the best price is charged for the trips made. SOB customers are able to purchase tickets for public transport throughout Switzerland from the platform. Supported by our Next Generation Ticketing components, alternative and complementary means of transport such as car/bike sharing will gradually become more easily accessible - ski lift included!
