Computing power, service life, bandwidth – the resources you actually need for engineering depend on the specific programming task. Cloud computing lets you access virtual resources to suit your needs in a central IT infrastructure: the cloud. Charges depend on actual use. Used in conjunction with various cloud service models, Platform as a Service is the ideal cloud service for efficiently preparing programming environments and developer tools.
Whether it’s computing power, storage or networks - the virtual IT infrastructure in the cloud data center provides all the required resources, as well as the user-friendly tools to manage the IT platform. The cloud platform consists of functionally separate security zones for different tasks.
A virtual application – known as a “virtual machine” – contains a preconfigured operating system and the desired software application. Various versions of the SIMATIC PCS 7 can be used as fully configured virtual machines. The virtual machines can also be adapted to suit your individual needs, for example by installing additional software applications.
Virtual machines and the corresponding user accounts are made available in the so-called Standard Security Zone. If you wish to use several virtual machines together and at the same time, they can be set up in the Isolated Security Zone. Here it is possible to build up a complete network between individual virtual machines – either on your own or assisted by our experts.
