Siemens Greece event in Thessaloniki on digital transformation and sustainability in industries and infrastructures
Siemens Greece recently held an event in the city of Thessaloniki, entitled "Shaping a sustainable future, with technologies that transform every day". Company executives and distinguished speakers from Greece and abroad presented the latest technologies that support the digital transformation and ensure a sustainable future in the Industry and Infrastructure sectors.
More than 150 customers, partners and representatives of institutional bodies, had the opportunity to learn about all the technological developments that drive digital transformation worldwide, the benefits they bring, and how they contribute to sustainability for the benefit of societies and markets.
Tech Meetup Sessions
As part of the Digital Industries Sessions, top executives from Siemens Greece, FEAC Engineering and the AM4GR Initiative presented the latest technological trends in Additive Manufacturing, digital transformation, machine design and manufacturing, as well as the solutions it offers the Simulation and Digital Twin for Industry. Also, in this context, representatives of the AM4GR initiative participated, which is a center of know-how and interconnection for Additive Manufacturing & 3D Printing with the aim of strengthening the industrial sector of Greece, of which Siemens A.E. is also a founding member.
At the same time, Smart Cities Sessions were held, where representatives of Siemens Smart Infrastructure and Digital Industries shared their knowledge about creating value through digitization in smart buildings and infrastructure, the latest developments in electrification, while a special Session entitled Smart Water dedicated to the benefits of implementing digital solutions and applications in the water industry. In addition, Siemens Greece collaboration with DEVAL of Larisa was presented, where advanced digital automation solutions were implemented for the management of water and wastewater facilities, the irrigation of urban parks and rural areas with high energy efficiency pumps, as well as energy cost savings with 4.0 solutions. As well as a speech by a Mendix representative was hosted, regarding low code programming platforms.
Main speeches
Dr. Vassileios Chatzikos, CEO Siemens A.E., opened the keynote presentations along with Mr. Dimos Sapidis, CEO Siemens Mobility A.E.. Both of them focused on how technology is transforming industries and infrastructures, leading to a more sustainable future. Afterwards, Spyros Lakkas, Head of OEM & Vertical Sales, Siemens A.E. gave an insight into the vision of Siemens in N. Greece. Nikos Kavakiotis, Head of Enlightened Europe, a Siemens IoT business, followed on stage and focused on how IoT unlocks the potential of buildings. Theo Papadopoulos, Program Officer for Company Core Technologies (CCT) Simulations & Digital Twin and User Experience, Siemens AG, spoke about Simulation and Digital Twins while addressing the Industrial Metaverse and its features, as well as the new Siemens Xcelerator business platform. The speeches closed with Haris Toloumis, Global Product Line Manager, Smart Infrastructure, Siemens AG, who focused on smart buildings and the technologies and solutions that reduce their environmental footprint.
