SINUMERIK 828
With its unique CNC performance, our SINUMERIK 828D control sets productivity benchmarks when it comes to milling and turning on standard machines as well as functions to simply automate grinding machines. With new SINAMICS drives and SIMOTICS motion control motors SINUMERIK 828D is now even more productive.
With the technology-specific system software of the SINUMERIK 828 CNC, the range of applications extends from vertical and basic horizontal machining centers – naturally also for mold making applications – surface and cylindrical grinding machines up to two-channel turning centers with counter spindle, driven tools and Y axis. Rugged hardware architecture and intelligent control algorithms, along with premium drive and motor technology, ensure the highest dynamic response and precision when machining.
Extended software-controlled compensation functions such as friction, nodding and cogging torque compensation as well as 3D collision monitoring in all operating modes ensure additional quality for surface machining and high machine tool availability.
Using SINUMERIK Operate, all machining technologies, from basic to complex, can be intuitively handled with a standard "look & feel".
Optimum scalability in the compact class
Based on the three CNC performance versions (SW24x, SW26x and SW28x) favorably-priced compact as well as more complex machines with additional axes/spindles and 2 machining channels can be implemented.
As a consequence, SINUMERIK 828 controls are always perfectly adapted to the performance requirements of standardized machine concepts for turning (T), milling (M) and grinding (G).
Automated cells play a decisive role in making the production environment more productive and more flexible. Robots can be simply integrated into production workflows for handling tasks via the Run MyRobot /EasyConnect interface.

The PPU 290 facilitates multitouch operation of the SINUMERIK 828. The 15.6" panel is rugged and able to stand up to harsh environments. SINUMERIK Operate is optimized for touch operation.

SINUMERIK 828 - Safety Integrated
Siemens is the pioneer when it comes to protecting man and machinery. For almost two decades now, SINUMERIK Safety Integrated has been the benchmark for safety technology integrated in the system for machine tools. SINUMERIK Safety Integrated involves intelligent system functions that provide the highest level of operator friendliness and safety for both operator and machine. For example, setting up the machine with the protective door open.
Teamed-up with the SINAMICS drive system, SINUMERIK 828 controls offer the optimum platform for implementing safe machine concepts.
SinuTrain - the control-identical NC-programming station
The SinuTrain offline programming station brings SINUMERIK Operate to the PC, including an animated machine control panel, to create a training situation that is very similar to that experienced in reality. This facilitates an easy transition from a training into a practical environment. This powerful tool allows NC programs to be programmed offline at a PC in an environment that is close to reality; these NC programs can then be directly transferred to the CNC. CNCs can be programmed in a training environment exactly as they will be subsequently used in real machines controlled by SINUMERIK. Perfectly tailored training packages are available as well as a free-of-charge basic version – everything you need for efficient training in your own environment.
SINAMICS S120 Combi – the optimum solution for compact machines
SINAMICS S120 Combi combines the performance of the modular SINAMICS S120 in a compact, rugged design. One infeed and up to four Cabinet Modules are integrated in one housing. This drive is the ideal basis for equipping compact standard machine concepts with a spindle power of 15 kW and up to five feed axes.
The SINAMICS S120 Combi now is available in an new frame size in two additional types. Their advantages are an even more compact design, a powerful Z-axis for milling machines and 3-fold overload capability.
SINAMICS S120 Booksize – saving space in the electrical cabinet
The new SINAMICS S120 Booksize devices combine compactness with power density. The width can be reduced for applications that are dimensioned according to the maximum current. The height has also been reduced as a result of a new motor connection/shield concept.
SIMOTICS S-1FK7 and SIMOTICS S-1FK2
High stall torques, high encoder accuracy and smooth running characteristics make SIMOTICS servomotors the optimum feed drive for machine tools. SIMOTICS S-1FK7 and S-1FK2 motors are available with various rated speeds, encoder types and moments of inertia and are precisely coordinated and matched with our SINAMICS S120 Combi drive system.
SIMOTICS S-1FK2 now provides even higher stall torques, higher machining quality and was further optimized regarding robustness and compact design.
SIMOTICS M-1PH8 and SIMOTICS M-1PH3
Compact SIMOTICS M-1PH8 and M-1PH3 induction motors have been specifically designed for use as spindle motors in machine tools, and are harmonized and matched to our SINAMICS S120 Combi drive system.
SIMOTICS M-1PH3 now provides 2-fold overload capability for high cutting performance as well as high robustness and easy handling.
