Yes it supports both Modbus TCP/IP and Profinet, except compact models are designated by a lower case "s" character (serial port only) to use Modbus TCP/IP use STEP 7-Micro/WIN SMART V2.4 and the S7-200 SMART V2.4 CPU firmware.

S7 200 SMART CPU has Super capacitor inside which provides approximately  7 days typ./6 days min. at 25 °C backup for RTC when CPU is in power off condition. Except for COMPACT CPU's.

Battery board (MLFB6ES72885BA010AA0) is used for adding external battery to S7 200 SMART PLC. This signal board supports CR1025 button batteries, with CR1025 button cell it provides RTC Holding time up to 1 Year in
power off condition.

Step7-MicroWin SMART software has GETPUT function block which allows CPU to CPU communication using on board Ethernet. Maximum eight connections are possible with one CPU.

One S7 200 SMART CUP can be configured with maximum 8 other S7 CPU. This is also applicable with all 8 CPU connected in same network.

Yes. Each CPU has one onboard RS485 port which support USS and one optional signal board which can be configure for USS communication. Each of these ports can be individually configured as master or slave.

Yes. S7 200 SMART PLC has one onboard Ethernet port and RS485 port it also supports one optional communication board which can configured for RS232 or RS484 communication. So S7 200 SMART PLC can communicate with SCADA by
following ways:

Ethernet Port:

  1. Direct communication with SCADA which has S7 200 Driver.
  2. Communication on OPC platform using PC Access SMART software.

Serial Port:

  1. Modbus RTU communication
  2. Free port communication (RS232)

No.

This is a software platform that allows OPC communication between S7-200 SMART PLC and third-party software which supports OPC communication - e.g. Visual Basic, dot net, Microsoft Excel, etc.

Yes. All S7 200 SMART CPU has a separate 8 MB internal memory space only for data logging. Log file is available in .csv format and can be extracted using Step 7 MicroWin SMART software.

8 MB. Every S7 200 SMART CPU has a special 8 MB internal memory space for data logging. Log file is available in .csv format and can be extracted using Step 7 MicroWin SMART software. One can create a maximum of 4 files of 2 MB each with real-time date and time stamp.

Any standard, commercial microSDHC card with a capacity in the range 4GB to 16GB can be used in S7 200 SMART PLC. MicroSDHC card is used for following purposes:

  1. Program Transfer
A memory card can be used to transfer user program content into the CPU's permanent memory, completely or partially replacing content already in the load memory. And for duplication of program from one CPU to other CPUs.
  2. Firmware upgrade.
A memory card can be used to update the firmware in a CPU and any connected expansion modules.
  3. Restore factory settings.
A memory card can be used to erase all retained data, putting the CPU back into a factory default condition.

No. The program resides in permanent memory and does not require battery backup even if the super capacitor gets discharged after 7 days of power-off condition.

S7-200 SMART PLC requires Battery Board in the following condition:

  • To increase RTC Holding Time in case CPU (Machine) is in power-off mode for more than 7 days.

If S7-200 SMART CPU is kept in power-off mode for more than 7 days, only RTC gets reset to its factory settings.

For updating S7 200 SMART CPU firmware follow below steps:

  1. Copy firmware file of desired CPU in any 4 GB to 16 GB microHDSC card.
  2. Place the CPU in STOP mode.
  3. Insert memory card into CPU memory card slot.
  4. Turn on power
  5. Give power cycle, now CPU will start Firmware update procedure automatically
  6. When CPU LED lights stops flashing, turnoff CPU and remove memory card for the slot.
  7. CPU firm ware is updated successfully.

STEP 7-Micro/WIN SMART runs on a personal computer. Your computer should meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Operating system: Windows 7 or Windows 10 (both 32 bit and 64 bit versions)
  • At least 350M bytes of free hard-disk space
  • Mouse (recommended)
