Air-insulated switchgear for primary distribution systems

Turning global experience into your profit - cleverly switched, local added value

With air-insulated switchgear from Siemens you are always on the safe side – our switchgear is type-tested for indoor installation according to IEC 62271-200 and has always been a synonym for maximum personal and operational safety as well as local added value.

  • Ensures peace of mind
  • Saves lives
  • Increases productivity
  • Saves money
  • Preserves the environment

Air-insulated switchgear for secondary distribution systems

Compact, reliable and safe operation

Simosec switchgear with air-insulated technology up to 24 kV – combined with gas-insulated switching functions – are factory-assembled, type-tested and metal-enclosed indoor switchgear according IEC.

Modular space-saving design allows use in substations and customer transfer substations of power supply and public utilities as well as applications in industrial plants, power plants, mining, shipbuilding industry, traction power supply, renewable energy industry and public buildings, such as high-rise buildings, railway stations, shopping centers, hospitals and airports.

Gas-insulated switchgear for primary distribution systems

Compact, maintenance-free and climate-independent

For the distribution of electrical energy, Siemens offers various gas-insulated switchgear types, which can be used in transformer and distribution systems of power supply companies, but also in industrial medium-voltage systems, e.g. mining industry, steel works or paper industry. Siemens gas-insulated switchgear is also the first choice for special applications such as wind parks, offshore platforms and ships.

In all these applications, gas-insulated switchgear technology from Siemens provides exceptional advantages in respect of climatic independence, personal safety and maintenance-free design. For the customer, this offers the high benefit of maximum supply reliability in his network, both as a provider of customers and as an energy supplier for production processes.

Gas-insulated switchgear for secondary distribution systems

Compact, maintenance-free and climate-independent

For the distribution of electrical energy, Siemens offers various gas-insulated switchgear types. In compact substations or small distribution substations, such switchgear contributes to guaranteeing uninterrupted power supply through to households and small industries.

In all these applications, gas-insulated switchgear technology from Siemens provides exceptional advantages in respect of climatic independence, personal safety and maintenance-free design. For the power supply companies,  this offers the high benefit of maximum supply reliability in their networks and thus, satisfied customers.

Generator Switchgear

High performance for the power supply of tomorrow

Independently of the type of power plant Siemens generator switchgear provide numerous advantages:

  • Increased cost-efficiency and service continuity
  • Optimum personal safety
  • Increased productivity
  • Environment-friendliness
  • Minimized installation and maintenance costs
  • Tailored solutions according to your requirements

Generator circuit-breaker switchgear (GCB) with vacuum switching technology is used in hydro, pumped storage, gas-fired or steam power plants, as well as in coal-fired, solar thermal and geothermal power plants. It offers solutions for retrofit projects as well as for new power plant constructions. The customers profit from continuously increasing cost-efficiency and uninterrupted operation.

Medium-voltage outdoor systems

Maximized reliability and minimized operating costs

Medium-voltage outdoor switching devices are essential components of medium-voltage distribution grids with overhead distribution lines. Siemens’ outdoor vacuum circuit-breakers (OVCB) protect overhead lines in case of a temporary fault and reduce outage times and the number of affected customers. Outdoor vacuum circuit-breakers offer systems for overhead distribution lines as well as for substations.

Siemens’ comprehensive portfolio of outdoor vacuum switching devices has been especially designed for a wide variety of climatic conditions. Type-tested reliability as well as long electrical life and mechanical robustness increase the profitability of medium-voltage grids. They offer the greatest possible benefit for every application, from the optimization of less developed network environments to the use in future-oriented smart grids.
