How can building owners and operators in the GCC reduce the energy consumption of their assets? How are rising digitalization and the advance of data and analytics overhauling facilities management in the region? Watch our webinar on delivering energy efficiency in the built environment.
In the Middle East, creating a perfect place is about enhancing building performance to optimize reliability, comfort, and water and electricity consumption alongside environmental and sustainability goals. With two decades of experience in the region, our Building Technologies Division can help you manage the entire lifecycle of your commercial, industrial and public buildings and infrastructures. Our established expertise along with our integrated technology for efficient building automation and proven fire and safety systems make us the perfect partner to create your perfect place.
Siemens pioneering smart building technologies are helping improve experiences and manage costs in regional landmarks like the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, and the Atlantis Hotel, the Dubai Opera, Yas Marina Race Track and the 3D-printed Office of the Future in Dubai.
At Siemens, we believe in helping you create a perfect place – perfectly designed for its purpose. A place to learn, a place to develop, a place to grow, a place to succeed.
Responsible for 41 percent of the world’s energy consumption, buildings offer a huge potential for energy savings and climate change mitigation. This is particularly the case in the Middle East. With many buildings wasting up to 50 percent of the energy they consume, energy and water efficiency is an effective driver of value creation. Creating perfect places means managing building resources and costs more effectively.
We spend 90 percent of our lives in buildings – even more so the people living in the Gulf. Much of that time is spent at work. It’s well understood that the indoor environment influences employee productivity and concentration, and health-related absences. That’s why the work environment feeds into employee satisfaction, motivation and company loyalty.
The best offices have air conditioning, lighting, shading and their controls, along with access systems, that are convenient, personalized and easy to understand. When done right, these building technologies can create the perfect place to work.
Approximately 70 percent of summer electricity demand in the Middle East is due to cooling. So it’s extremely important to evaluate the entire demand side value chain to identify where we can use technology to operate more efficiently. Digital technologies have a huge potential to nearly halve the energy used for cooling.
At the WAFI Mall in Dubai, Demand FlowTM has been deployed to optimize the entire chilled water system of the cooling plant that serves the mall. The technology simplifies operations, increases cooling capacity and improves efficiency. As a result, the system is able to reduce flow during periods of reduced demand, lowering operating and maintenance costs and significantly reducing energy use.
WAFI is benefitting from the system’s specialized algorithms that can deliver energy savings of between 15 and 30 percent. Desigo CC is a building management platform that reduces energy use by controlling and optimizing a building’s systems, including ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, shading, fire safety and security services. Versions of the Desigo CC building management platform are in use in Abu Dhabi at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and at the Siemens regional headquarters in Masdar City, as well as the Atlantis Hotel and the Office of the Future, both in Dubai.
The impact of Desigo CC on a typical building is a savings of between 10 and 25 percent of the energy required for cooling.
Buildings are alive with information. Billions of intelligent devices and sensors generate massive amounts of data every day, every hour, every second. With the right digital tools you can translate what your buildings are telling you into actionable insights.
By collecting building data and analyzing it using specialized algorithms, our technologies help you to continuously optimize your building’s performance – creating real value in your operations and supporting you to create perfect places.
Particularly now, as more governments across the Middle East move forward with smart city goals, advanced building technologies will play an increasingly key role in helping realize this energy efficient, connected future.
Thanks to our advanced digital solutions, 7,421 buildings have been optimized globally and we service over 35,000 facilities across the globe.
As a leader in the digital transformation, knowing how to analyze building data enables us to continuously optimize our customers’ building performance – creating real value in their operations and supporting them in creating perfect places.
The UAE has identified happiness and sustainability as top priorities. That’s why it has set ambitious energy-saving goals. Building management systems from Siemens help achieve both. These systems create a comfortable environment that greatly increases user satisfaction and happiness, while also improving the performance of buildings and reducing their environmental footprint.
