We're traveling across the country to bring you some of the latest technologies and innovations to help you map out a surefire digitial direction in line with the country's vision and aspirations. The following graphic will tell you when and where we are over the next few months.Bridging the skills gap for industry, exposing university graduates, and upgrading the existing workforce with Industry 4.0 training – these are among the more pressing and urgent agenda if the nation is to stay on top of digital transformation that is revolutionizing business models, market needs and manufacturing processes. As current workers are finding difficulty to gain employability and to fill positions due to the lack of skills and know-how, this leaves manufacturing-related jobs on the risk of being increasingly unfilled from the mismatch and incompatibleness in supply and demand.
In this realization that there is much to be done for new territories that may have little exposure to Industry 4.0, therefore, Siemens Malaysia is officially collaborating with Kedah-based training provider KISMEC (Kedah Industrial Skills and Management Development Centre) that has now been appointed as a certified training partner under the flagship Siemens Innovation and Resources Training Centre or SIRTC, to run and conduct the Siemens Mechatronics Systems Certification Program. This appointment is the first to be established for the Northern region of Malaysia, one that is most timely as it coincides fittingly with the opening of KISMEC’s new K2 training centre at the Kulim Hi-Tech Park.
The event saw an attendance of about 500 participants and customers from across a range of industries, tenants at the Hi-Tech Park, members of the Kulim Industrial Tenant Association, universities, government agencies as well as non-profit organizations from around the region. To signify this partnership, a certificate was presented by Siemens Malaysia President & CEO, Mr Indranil Lahiri, to KISMEC CEO Mr Mohd Yusuri Yusof.
“The SIRTC is our solution to help bridge the skills gap in the industry, where we want to collaborate with partners, training centers and universities to offer technical know-how and knowledge transfer under our SIRTC certified labs,” said Indranil. “Through it, the upgrading of latest knowledge from industry to the education platform can take form. To date, Siemens is one of the few organizations in the country leading the digitalization drive, and which can ably deliver a comprehensive and full-fledged suite of training programs customized to individual customer’s needs and to meet market demands.
Some of the solutions available at the Siemens Digitalization Marketplace include Siemens Intelligent Plant Equipment Health Monitoring System, Smart Data Meter Management system through its EnergyIP® solution, the Siemens Remote On-Site Service smart glass technology, and the Digital Enterprise Suite which digitalizes business processes.

The event is one of its kind as it champions the development of local companies which dabble in the Oil & Gas industry. The iconic identity of the MOGSEC series is derived from its exclusivity towards showcasing home-grown talent and promoting Malaysia as the region's Oil & Gas hub.

MOGSEC 2018 promises to be the best one yet as over 94% of exhibitors in 2016 have pledged to return, with the theme of 'Catalyzing Regional Growth in Oil & Gas'. The event will continue to advocate for Malaysia to assume the role as the regional hub for Oil & Gas services and accelerate growth of the sector beyond Asia. The event also presents a perfect opportunity for delegations within the region to witness the technologies and innovations on exhibition as well as meet key Malaysian industry players for potential partnerships and investments.
In partnership with the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Siemens Malaysia set up a Digitalization Audit Counter during the 3-day event at Exhibition Booth 1801. The counter featured free Digitalization assessments from Siemens in-house experts for businesses to understand their Industry 4.0 readiness in the ever challenging landscape of the Oil & Gas sector.
