Fit for the future

SINUMERIK – maximum technological reach

The range of technologies in the machine tool environment is vast. Manufacturing companies wishing to cater for several different technologies face the question: which CNC is the best solution for all my processes and employees, and for handling spare parts?

CNC machining technologies

Turning, milling, turn-milling, mill-turning - standard machining technologies are comprehensively implemented in SINUMERIK Operate. This includes intuitive operation, considered to be a benchmark, all types of programming (DIN/ISO, cycles, shop floor and graphic programming, highlevel language), on-board simulation, integration into CAD/CAM process chains, manufacturing automation and IT - including software tools such as SinuTrain and Run MyVirtual Machine for job preparation, and training on the PC.

Even the toughest requirements for precision and surface quality can be met with options such as MDynamics, Top Surface and Top Speed.

Machine and manufacturing concepts that combine several cutting or additive manufacturing technologies are supported by the SINUMERIK system architecture by design. Typical combinations such as turn-milling and mill-turning are already an integral part of the system software.

Frequently used technologies such as grinding or gear hobbing, but also special applications of the standard technologies that require a special user interface (e.g. blade groove milling, gear or turbine blade milling) can use the basic system functions required for these technologies in SINUMERIK (for grinding these are, for example, "pendulum function", "dressing", "distance-to-go deletion", etc.). System and on-board functions for creating application-specific user interfaces help the machine manufacturer to implement the end user's requirements with minimal effort and without any system breaks.

Special technologies such as lasering, waterjet cutting and electron-beam welding benefit from the fundamental system properties of the SINUMERIK system. Examples include the openness for integrating proprietary functions, algorithms and technologies, and the advantages offered by a single-source automation portfolio for engineering, procurement, commissioning, maintenance and spare parts management - based on internationally recognized industry standards with worldwide support and service.

Additive manufacturing is covered in the process chain with NX-CAD/CAM on an equal footing with machining processes and can therefore be adapted both as a stand-alone technology in a machine or as a supplement in multitasking/multi-technology machines

Factory automation using SINUMERIK-controlled robots opens up the robot for process-parallel machining - and it is operated and programmed via the standard system interface of SINUMERIK Operate.

All machining technologies benefit from the easy integration of SINUMERIK controlled machines into production lines, control and IT systems for factory automation, process chains, and systems for production planning, process and condition monitoring and resource management.

Downloads and Support

Further information on CNC machining technologies

Here you will find useful downloads and help with our SINUMERIK products.

Programming manuals

Our programming manuals are tailored to the needs of programmers, technologists, and machine operators. Using simple programming examples, commands and instructions are explained according to DIN 66025, you are shown how to program a complex workpiece program, and learn how to program measuring cycles and perform sophisticated measurement tasks. The programming manuals will also help you to design programs and software user interfaces, and with troubleshooting.

This manual explains common commands and instructions according to DIN 66025 using simple programming examples.

This manual explains how to program complex workpiece programs (e.g. sculptured surfaces, channel coordination etc.).

This manual explains programming with measuring cycles, as required for performing special measurement tasks. The flexible structure of the measuring cycles makes it possible to perform nearly all measuring tasks required on milling or turning machines.

Function manuals

Our function manuals are tailored to the needs of project engineers, technologists (of machine manufacturers), and start-up engineers (of systems/machines). Function manuals teach you in detail how to handle the SINUMERIK functions.

This manual describes the SINUMERIK basic functions.

This manual describes the SINUMERIK special functions.

This manual describes the SINUMERIK extended functions.

This manual describes the configuration, programming, and functionality of the "tool management" function and its variants.
