SIMOTICS FD with cast iron enclosures cover a power range extending from 200 up to 1800 kW. They are available both in air-cooled as well as water-cooled versions to address challenging environmental conditions. With the open-circuit air cooled version in an IP 23 degree of protection the highest power densities are achieved for operation in clean environments. As a result of the maximum degree of flexibility and versatility, the platform strategy can satisfy almost every customer requirement.

SIMOTICS FD explosion-protected motors address hazardous zones 2 and 22. The motors are certified for ignitable gases or dusts, and satisfy the widest range of explosion regulations. These explosion-protected motors are perfectly suitable for operation with SINAMICS converters.

SIMOTICS FD marine motors have been designed to stand up to the harsh environmental conditions that prevail on board ships. With specific option packages for essential service and non-essential service, our marine motors comply with the regulations of leading marine classification societies. They set themselves apart as a result of their high durability against aggressive environmental conditions and their compact dimensions as a result of the water cooling.

SIMOTICS FD crane motors have been specially designed for the application-specific requirements relating to hoisting duty in crane systems. They set themselves apart as a result of their high overload capability, wide field weakening range, low moment of inertia and especially rugged IVIC-C premium insulation system. Increased corrosion protection is available for the most challenging of environmental conditions.

SIMOTICS FD energy storage devices have been optimized for applications in which converter-fed induction motors are used as kinetic energy storage devices with a high dynamic performance. These rotating energy storage devices without shaft extension, can quickly convert a large amount of electrical energy into mechanical energy - and vice versa. With a dynamic energy management function, for example, for press systems, the infeed power required can be reduced.

With SIMOTICS FD, you can simply adapt the cooling to address your requirements. You can select between open and enclosed versions with self-cooling or external cooling – where either a radial fan or axial fan can be flexibly mounted. The portfolio includes water-cooled versions with cooling jackets or air-to-water heat exchangers.

The combination of SIMOTICS FD motors and SINAMICS G120P Cabinet, SINAMICS G130, SINAMICS G150, SINAMICS S120 CM or SINAMICS S150 low-voltage converters is especially cost effective, as motor and converter are precisely harmonized and coordinated with one another. The motor rated currents are adapted to the converter output currents and the motor is dimensioned for the rated pulse frequency of the converter.
