Severe Duty motors of the SIMOTICS platform have always set themselves apart as a result of their high reliability and high performance – even in the most challenging applications. Now however, performance and ruggedness have been redefined. Discover the completely new bandwidth of a low-voltage motor range that is completely unique in today's market – and sets new standards.

SIMOTICS SD Severe Duty motors (1LE1 platform)

The well proven SIMOTICS SD (1LE1 platform) motors up to motor efficiency class IE4 are available for line operation. By using motors with efficiency class IE4, you can reduce your energy usage by up to 3 % when compared to motors with an IE3 efficiency class. If you decide on the 1LE1 platform, then you can also switch over to IE4 motors at a later point in time as all efficiency classes from IE1 up to IE4 have the same power - shaft height assignment. If you select Severe Duty motors in IE4, then you have chosen a rugged fixed-speed drive based on a future-proof platform.

Motors belonging to the VSD10 and VSD4000 Lines (SIMOTICS reluctance motors) have been designed for variable-speed converter operation. The investment-optimized system comprising SIMOTICS VSD10 motor and SINAMICS converter offers simple selection from the catalog or engineering tool along with fast commissioning based on a motor code with predefined converter parameters. The system comprising SIMOTICS synchronous-reluctance motor and SINAMICS converter is the best choice for especially energy-efficient operation. The synchronous-reluctance technology ensures especially high dynamic performance and high energy efficiency in the partial load range to secure a high process quality.

    The following motor lines are available for severe duty applications: Basic Line (machinery construction), Performance Line (process industry), Eagle Line (export to NAFTA countries)
  • Compact design
    The size of a motor is often an important aspect in machinery construction. For this reason, the 1LE1 motors in IE2 and IE3 are not any longer than their predecessors from the 1LG series in IE2.
  • Especially efficient line operation:
    The line motors in efficiency class IE4 are available from 2.2 kW up to 200 kW as catalog motors.
  • More power
    In severe duty applications, motors with increased power can also be the optimum solution if sufficient space is not available for a standard motor. This is because these motors offer the same power rating in the next lower shaft height.
  • Converter motors
    The cast iron motors from the VSD10 and VSD4000 Lines have been optimized for operation with SINAMICS converters, and comply with global MEPS requirements. The code stamped on the motor rating plate provides predefined parameters in the converter.

The latest generation of rugged SIMOTICS SD low-voltage motors stands for optimized performance and a wide range of digital features. Above all, the motors are ready for digitalization and cloud-based data analysis. This allows you to optimize your processes, because the motors become part of your digital enterprise. The motor range itself is very compact: a new design ensures a high power density despite smaller dimensions. In addition, the range is highly efficient and extremely flexible.
