Siemens 30 Years

30 years of supporting industries and infrastructure in the Philippines

Reliving its history and chartering its path to the future was the key theme of Siemens, Inc.’s 30th anniversary celebration. Hosted by the management for its employees, the event celebrated the organization’s milestone of 30 years of being incorporated as a legal entity in the country, effectively consolidating all businesses from different divisions of Siemens AG into one regional company.

“Today is a moment of revisiting our past, being grateful for our achievements, and looking forward for what’s ahead of our business.”, said Mr. Jose Marie Enrico Buergo, President and Chief Executive Officer of Siemens, Inc., who was appointed in October 2020 after two decades of leading the industrial business of the company.

As it looks ahead at what is in store for the business, the company focuses on key priorities to implement its growth strategy. “We want to lay the foundation and start a new chapter by enhancing our customer impact, empowering our employees, promoting our purpose-driven technologies, and adopting a growth mindset.”, said Mr. Buergo.

Siemens, Inc. was established in 1992 in the Philippines as a wholly owned subsidiary of Siemens AG, the industrial automation and infrastructure company headquartered in Munich, Germany. Prior to 1992, Siemens AG’s business in the country was conducted through various distributorships in the energy, industrial, and healthcare markets. The company’s first recorded presence in the Philippines was through a medical distribution company before the turn of the 20th century. The following decades saw the entry of other key technologies in the power sector. In 1982, the business journey was highlighted by the establishment of a joint venture with a Filipino company, ETSI Technologies, Inc., to produce telco sets in the country.

Today, Siemens, Inc. has become a preferred technology partner in manufacturing, infrastructure, and transportation. In the industrial sector, it has been supporting the Philippine government, via a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Trade and Industry, in preparing manufacturing companies for Industry 4.0. Meanwhile, in the infrastructure sector, Siemens, Inc. has also been recognized as a strong supplier to various power utilities and project developers especially in Smarty City solutions and IoT.
