For more than 170 years, the name Siemens has been synonymous with internationality and worldwide presence.
Siemens is a global powerhouse positioned along the electrification value chain – from power generation, transmission and distribution to smart grid solutions and the efficient application of electrical energy – as well as in the areas of medical imaging and laboratory diagnostics. Today, Siemens has around 377,000 employees in more than 200 countries/regions. We operate in production and manufacturing plants worldwide. In addition, we have office buildings, warehouses, research and development facilities or sales offices in almost every country/region in the world.
Siemens in Saudi ArabiaOur company’s proud history dates back to the 1930s where it all began with a single engineer and grew into today’s 2,000 employees. We are proud to continuously deliver innovative solutions to our customers, partners and the society in Saudi Arabia, as well as significantly contribute to the development of the country's infrastructure.
Who We Are?
Our relationship with the Arabian Peninsula dates back to the mid 1800s when Werner von Siemens personally led a team to lay telegraphic cables under the Red Sea. In the 1930s, the first business transaction took place in Saudi Arabia, when visionary local businessmen first imported Siemens power generation equipment to the Kingdom. The initial investment laid the foundation for the sophisticated power infrastructure found today in the Kingdom, whereby 1/3rd of electricity generated is by Siemens technology.
Siemens sent its first resident engineer to Saudi Arabia in 1952 to better serve the company’s rapidly growing customer base here. A decade later, E.A. Juffali & Brothers Co. and Siemens AG set up an agency, which is still the corner stone of a successful partnership with a modern day joint venture. Today, with almost 2000 employees along with E.A. Juffali as a strong local partner, we continue to deliver on our pledge of contributing to the socio-economic development of Saudi Arabia.
At Siemens, our mission is to make real what matters. We look beyond the bottom line of commercial activities and consider how our business serves society as a whole. We believe the purpose of our company is to contribute to the well-being of society and to impact positively on people’s lives. Business is an integral part of society, not independent of it.
For almost 170 years we have been finding ways to improve life in many areas. With our passion for technology, we set standards and create sustainable value – for our customers, for society and for each individual. Our company founder Werner von Siemens would have called this inventiveness. Today we call it “Ingenuity for life”.
Together with our customers we tackle the many challenges that face us. Through our expertise in the areas of electrification, automation and digitalization, we improve the lives of people today and create lasting value for future generations.
This is what drives us and this is what we promise. This is Ingenuity for life.
We Make Real What Matters to Saudi Arabia
To make real what matters to Saudi Arabia, we assessed our value to the Kingdom’s society from an outside-in perspective. We started by identifying what matters to the Kingdom and its people in terms of economic growth, development of human capital, innovation, environmental protection, quality of life and transformation of a society.
To understand KSA’s priorities meant digging for new data, having deeper conversations with key stakeholders and understanding the Kingdoms real potential and vision. It meant identifying what is important to KSA. Our journey involved analyzing and contemplating visionary documents that chart the way forward for KSA. These included the Vision 2030, National Transformation Program (NTP) and understanding of the global megatrends and their impact on the economic and social fabric of the Kingdom. This process reminded us of our role in working with society, for society. It highlighted the complexity of our relationship with the people of Saudi Arabia, its government, and our customers, suppliers and business partners. Most of all, it taught us how we can equitably measure our impact on the most vital issues, and in doing so impact each and every stakeholder.
A Better Partner
Traveling this road of enquiry empowered us to become a better partner to the Kingdom. Moreover, it strengthened our resolve to be there every step of the way. As KSA continues its visionary journey, we are more than ever committed to improving the quality of everyday life and helping the nation prosper. Ultimately this is of value to you, to us and to the people of Saudi Arabia.
