At Siemens, everyday I am encouraged to bring my innovative ideas to life and to act as if Siemens is my own company. In my role as an innovator at Siemens Singapore, my ideas are always being supported and this has given me the courage to take risks, also ask questions and contribute to world-changing technology.

I have a passion for numbers!

Ever since I was a kid I have always been fascinated by numbers. I know it sounds ‘nerdy’ but at school, physics and mathematics were the subjects that I found the most intriguing and what I succeeded in the most. It was no shock to anyone when I decided to study electrical and electronics engineering in university. The potential to integrate new technologies into real life is exciting to me and the fact that I am now doing this as a career is a real dream come true for me.

I currently work as a City Use Case Innovator for Siemens, Singapore. This means I am responsible for  managing innovative projects, extracting our customers needs and associating technologies in order to provide solutions. Having been in this position for two years, I have so far worked on cutting edge projects which focuses largely on innovative solutions in multidimensional platforms and Informational Technology (IT).

I love my job as I am able to solve the complex challenges our customers face everyday by using my ability to think through, simplify and get to the essence of where technology can make an impact. Through the combination of my business. technology development and marketing skills, I deliver our customers readily acceptable innovative solutions. In my role, I am surrounded by teammates who also love what they do and are motivated to make the lives of our customers much easier, compatible and connected.

Endless opportunities to improve yourself

I am thankful that the management supports continuing education and learning on the job while rewarding hard work. We are continuously being granted opportunities to pursue our interests,  both in and outside of work and further develop our skills through…

  • Skill development courses - I have been given the chance to take up a variety of courses that contributed to the sharpening of my user requirement gathering skills
  • University Master Classes - I attended a one-week university master class on innovation and technology management. During this week I gained critical insights on how organizations face innovation challenges in areas such as semiconductors, industrial electronics, LED lighting, automotive electronics, among others.
  • Information sharing - Info sharing between colleagues is highly encouraged at all levels of the company, as this exchange of knowledge is  translated to an improvement in collaboration and camaraderie and enables you to build your skills in areas you may struggle in.
  • Volunteer work - Siemens also encourages employees to be involved in its company-wide voluntary work program, Siemens Caring Hands. In Singapore, employees are given a day off each year to engage in community work. Additionally, throughout the year, there are opportunities for employees to go out to spend time with underprivileged old folks, children and handicapped, volunteer at various charities’ functions, and clean up the island-nation’s beaches.  Being apart of these meaningful activities allows us to give back to society and better ourselves!
