A symbolic start of a powerful project
The first column of the South Bangkok Power Plant Replacement Project Phase 1 (SBRP1) is standing, marking the symbolic start of construction works for the project, which is set to improve the Metropolitan’s power system security with a more efficient unit of combined cycle power plant to be delivered by Siemens together with consortium partner Marubeni. The new unit of the combined cycle power plant will support the Thai Government’s Power Development Plan (PDP) by producing around 1,200 megawatts of electricity to power up about 1.5 million Thai households after commissioning in 2019. In the next project steps, locally manufactured HRSG equipment will be delivered in February, followed by the first offshore shipments in March and the major components like the Gas- and Steam turbine as well as generators by the middle of the year. EGAT’s First Column Lifting Ceremony was attended by high level management from all parties involved: (Left to Right) Mr. Chairat Gatengern, EGAT South Bangkok Power Plant Replacement Project Director, Mr. Christian Bergmann, Vice President Project Execution Siemens AG, Mr. Kodshayut Boriboonchatuporn, EGAT Deputy Governor, Power Plant Development, Mr. Markus Lorenzini, CEO Siemens Thailand and Mr. Soji Sakai, President of Marubeni Thailand Co.Ltd.
