MindSphere Lab at Newcastle UniversityOn 14 May 2018, Newcastle University officially launched the exclusive MindSphere Lab at their flagship Urban Sciences Building. The Lab showcases the huge impact of digitalisation on industry and will provide users with access to Siemens’ open cloud-based platform, MindSphere. Together with customers, SMEs and academic partners, the team will seek to uncover new business models and create new opportunities that were previously thought to be impossible. The Urban Sciences Building is also home to the Siemens MindSphere Application Centre (MAC) for Connected Batteries which is part of a global network of innovation hubs. The MAC supports the drive of digital service offerings and, by working with customers, aims to solve real problems that bring about real value for the end user. Meet, think and discover at the University of SheffieldOn 21 September 2017, the University of Sheffield became the first to join MINe, with the opening of the MindSphere Lounge within their iconic Diamond Building. Not only a physical focal point for students, local businesses and other digital partners to collaborate, the lounge will represent a ‘living lab’. Through the network, the university will link estate and research assets to support the academic curriculum and R&D, allowing students to meet, think and discover using the power of MindSphere in the areas of manufacturing, water and energy.
