Creating sustainable resilient, smart logistics hubs

The UK has a proud and rich maritime heritage which has been integral to driving the prosperity of its economy for hundreds of years.

With ports and harbours rightly viewed as vital to the UK’s economy, the Department for Transport (DfT) launched its Maritime 2050 strategy with the ambition to be a world leading maritime nation for generations to come.

The challenge we find ourselves facing is: how do we best employ advanced technology to meet the necessity for sustainable, more resilient, smart, safe and secure ports and harbours?

Together we can encourage innovation and investment, collectively shaping and future proofing the success of our UK maritime sector.

National Grid and Siemens develop new tool to help UK ports transition to net zero

National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) has partnered with Siemens to create a free online tool to help UK ports meet their net zero targets. With the support and guidance from the British Ports Association (BPA), the decarbonisation tool will help ports forecast the future infrastructure required to meet potential increased demand for electricity from zero emission port operations.
