Life at Siemens Financial Services

Our diverse and open workplace promotes opportunity and flexibility

Life at SFS

It's our skilled and knowledgeable people that make our company the success it is and it’s our relaxed but professional environment that encourages our people to thrive. As a vital member of our team, your expertise will contribute to the successful delivery of flexible, bespoke finance solutions that contribute to success. You’ll be encouraged to develop close relationships with customers to ensure we continue to provide the service excellence and creative finance solutions that distinguish us in a competitive market.

Our culture

The world is an ever-changing place where traditional ideals and values have switched to reflect modern work, domestic and economic pressures. SFS has recognised this trend, learned what motivates people and adapted to meet the needs of employees working at Siemens Financial Services

We want our people to be responsible, excellent and innovative. These are our core values and we bring them to life by empowering our people and rewarding curiosity. We offer a supportive workplace where compassion and honesty are encouraged, and where anyone can speak up and propose new ideas.

We introduced dynamic working to allow staff working from home to still feel part of the team and - for those in the office - we encourage them to adopt our informal dress code and make use of the easy breakout areas, free fruit and hot drinks for their comfort and wellbeing.

SFS feels strongly about sustainability and we inspire SFS team members to join any of our six sustainability groups. Each person is also entitled to two volunteer days per year and has full access to MyChoice, our flexible benefits scheme, and Perks at Work – a scheme which provides access to exclusive employee discounts and rewards at over 30,000 brands.

Employees are encouraged to join projects and initiatives across the business. This means we don’t get stuck in silos and we get a range of knowledge across functions. You get to explore different areas of the business.

Flexible working

Employee wellbeing is central to our success. SFS is an inclusive and diverse workplace and we have seen how the introduction of flexible working has empowered our people to work smarter to achieve their ideal balance.

Flexible working is an option, whatever your situation. We know it makes a real difference to retaining valued staff, to their wellbeing and growth, and to skill succession planning. Flexible working is not about asking or giving permission, it’s about changing how things are resourced. It’s a trust-based, flexible, new way of working that allows our people and business to flourish.

It’s exciting to see our business thrive as we move away from a permission-based flexible working policy, to an individual employee-led flexibility culture. Meaning that our employees determine their own flexible working schedule that works for both them and the business.

Employee-led flexible working incorprates 3 main elements:

  • Informal - being empowered to work in a flexible location or moving away from the standard 9-5 day
  • Formal contractual changes - part time working opportunties, role-sharing or working condensed hours
  • Unpaid leave - where colleagues are given the opportunity to take a significant number of days unpaid leave

I’ve worked at SFS for 13 years and in the past few years the company has changed significantly. I now work flexibly – I live far away from the office and have 2 children – so being able to work from home is a great help. As a leader of a team I make work life balance a number one priority. We make sure that we have conversations where everyone feels included.

Return to work

Returning to work after a career break can be a daunting prospect. Our return-to-work scheme is designed to make the transition easy by offering a six-month placement that’s specifically designed to bridge the gap between your break and re-entering the workplace.

The Returners Scheme helps you exploit your existing capability and grow your confidence by refreshing your skills and knowledge. It provides valuable experience combined with coaching, mentoring, and training to make you feel fully supported.

Who is the scheme for?

The six-month scheme is for anyone returning to work after at least two years away. It’s bespoke, which means it’s tailored to your specific needs. You will have access to a range of learning opportunities throughout that includes career coaching and soft skill development, and the chance to upskill and get involved in some of our exciting projects.

What will I get from the scheme?

You’ll be employed on a six-month contract which is open to flexible working and reduced hours, so if you let us know your needs, we’ll do our best to accommodate them.

Although we can’t guarantee a role at the end of the scheme, we will support you where we can in finding a permanent role and – if we’re not able to help immediately - we’ll be in touch as soon as a suitable permanent position arises.

Additional Support

A strong support network is vital to making a success of your return to work, that’s why you’ll be supported by a raft of people ranging from your line manager to a professional coach.
