Introduce yourself and what you do at Siemens Financial Services?

I am currently a Block Discounting Account Development Manager and have been with SFS since 2005. During this time, I have worked my way through four departments, seven roles, three laptops but, have managed to keep the same mug!

I began working in Customer Services, after 4 years I moved to pay-outs another 4 years later and    then found myself in Brokers Sales and then in 2015 I landed a role in Block Discounting.

What does the term ‘Diversity and Inclusion’ mean to you?

For me Inclusion is what I feel most passionate about, diversity follows. I know what it feels like to be excluded in a group, it really is not nice. I am conscious that no person should feel ignored, so I wanted to help make changes. So far, I have helped with surveys, arranging workshops, arranging a privilege walk, creating a women’s network internally and for our customer base, just to mention a few.

Have you seen any change in the industry in terms of D&I whilst you have been at the company, do you think there is more room for change?

There have huge changes in the business since I have been with the business, the most significant changes being in the last 5 years. Unconscious & conscious biases are being addressed in the business and we are always challenging our thinking.

As a company, we talk about giving everyone a voice, how do you use yours?

I can share my views and experiences, but I am only one voice in the business. Listening is important I really encourage everyone to find their voice too.

Finally, what three words would you use to sum up working for SFS?

  • Developing – the business is always changing not only to stay ahead of the competition, but adapting to ensure that their staff can work to their full potential.
  • Rewarding – I have been in the business for almost 16 years and have the chance to work in many roles. The business invests in your development, but nothing is handed on a plate.
  • Fun – At the end of the day it is the people that make a business, I’ve been fortunate to have        made many friends during my time at SFS with whom I have had many laughs!
