James Twineham

Business Development Manager - Siemens Financial Services

Describe a day in the life of a Siemens Business Development Manager

Every day is completely different which keeps things interesting. Provided the day starts with a coffee I’m happy! I’ve missed seeing my customers in person during the pandemic so it’s great to be back out on the road having some face to face meetings.

What do you love most about your job?

Sounds cliché but the people (which includes our customers!). For me, Siemens have one of the best teams out there supported by excellent systems all of which make working here great. The role is also very diverse & each day brings a different challenge.

What excites you about the future of the SFS Broker channel?

I have been working within the Broker space now for 7 years and have seen a lot of positive change; what excites me most is the push for digitalisation in the channel and the streamlining of our customer journey. SFS pride themselves on delivering best in class service and the push for automation will help to service our customers quicker and easier.

Why Siemens?

Siemens have been supporting the Broker market for over 25 years and will continue to do so for another 25! We have fantastic people, a strong online portal which accommodates auto-decisioning, API functionality, same day payouts, and a superb set of BDMs 😉

What would you sing at Karaoke night?

It has got to be Robbie Williams – Angels, but only after a few lemonades & bring your earplugs!

What has impressed you the most about the broker market?

The resilience in the face of adversity. It has been a really tough 2 years for us all, but the beauty of the broker market is its diversity. I have been incredibly impressed by the attitude of our Broker partners and their agile response to the pandemic. Yes, the government schemes have helped but the pandemic also drove diversity within portfolios or gave some brokers time to improve their digital strategy meaning they are well placed for business levels to return.

What’s your signature dish?

I make a naughty fajita Mac n Cheese or a Roast Chicken Dinner!

Where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time?

On a beach in Barbados!

What is your biggest motivator?

I always want to give 100% in whatever task I do, so I would say the strive to succeed. Whether it’s in business, supporting the family, or working out at the gym I think it’s important to always give your all.

Tell us something about yourself that your customers don’t know

Back in the day I played football for Southampton Youth Academy alongside Theo Walcott!
